Dear MGRRamamoorthi,

We are already discussing about AO on the open domain only - yes, internet is the open domain and a common place. What better common place do you want? Every genuine MGR fan agrees that as Times of India claimed during last March edition AO rerun was a flop, except in these 2 theaters with 1 show as a forced run. I heard even in Madurai Meenakshi theater, whose owner is a MGR fan, the movie was removed after 1 week, along with other theaters in the city. In Chennai, I am 100% sure that the movie has been running only because the state is now ruled by ADMK. The very fact that only Sunday evening shows are almost full shows that it is a politicized run. If it were not ADMK ruling TN now, the movie would have gone from these 2 theaters too. Plus, I have just checked the online booking status at Albert complex and all tkts are available for next 7 days.

BTW, to attract today's younger hip hop internet generation, you need to give something interesting and different. AO, being a run-of-the mill robin hood story wouldn't attract the crowd and in my view, that's the reason why it failed.

That is why I earlier claimed that Mr. Chockalingam must have incurred loss and said better luck next time. Until then, you can self congratulate and enjoy 100 days of AO - ஓட்டப்படுகின்ற படம்.. My discussion about AO is ending here.

'சுடரும் சூறாவளியும்' படத்தின் மூலம் பட அதிபராக உயர்ந்த வி.சி.குகநாதன், அந்தப் படத்தின் கதாநாயகி ஜெயாவை காதலித்து மணந்தார். வி.சி.குகநாதன் எழுதிய கதைகள் படங்களாக வெளிவந்து கொண்டு இருந்தன. ஆனால் அவரது பெயர் வெளிவரவில்லை.

இந்த நிலையில், எம்.ஜி.ஆர். திடீரென்று ஒரு நாள் குகநாதனை அழைத்து, 'எதிர்காலத்தில் அரசியலுக்கு வருவீர்களா?' என்று கேட்டார். சினிமாவை விரும்புவதாக குகநாதன் கூற, 'சினிமாவில் எந்தத்துறை உங்களுக்கு பிடிக்கும்?' என்று கேட்டார், எம்.ஜி.ஆர்.

'கதை-வசனம் எழுதுவது' என்று பதிலளித்தார், குகநாதன். 'அப்படியானால் ஒரு கதை சொல்லுங்கள்' என்றார், எம்.ஜி.ஆர். கதையை உன்னிப்பாக கேட்டார், எம்.ஜி.ஆர். கதை அவருக்குப் பிடித்துவிட்டது. 'கதை பிரமாதம்' என்று அவர் சொன்ன நேரத்தில், டைரக்டர் சாணக்யா அங்கே வந்தார்.

உடனே எம்.ஜி.ஆர், 'இவர் நன்றாக கதை எழுதுகிறார். உங்களுடன் வைத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்' என்று அவரிடம் சொன்னார். தொடர்ந்து 'ஜேயார் மூவிஸ்' தயாரித்த படத்திற்கு குகநாதனை கதை எழுதும்படி சொன்னார். 1968-ம் ஆண்டு குகநாதன் 'புதிய பூமி' படத்திற்கு கதை எழுதினார். படம் மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றி பெற்றது.

டாக்டராக இருக்கும் எம்.ஜி.ஆர்., கிராமத்திற்கு சென்று ஏழை மக்களுக்கு வைத்தியம் செய்வார். அப்போது அந்த பகுதியில் இருக்கும் கொள்ளையனை பிடித்துக்கொடுப்பதுதான் கதை.

('புதிய பூமி'க்கு கதை எழுதியபோது, குகநாதனுக்கு வயது 18. அப்போது அவர் பச்சையப்பன் கல்லூரியில் படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார். பின்னர் 'பி.காம்' பட்டம் பெற்றார்.)

1971-ம் ஆண்டு 'குமரிக் கோட்டம்' படத்திற்கு குகநாதன் கதை எழுதினார்.
