Bhagwan Budha quoted that three things cannot be hidden , the Truth, the Sun and the Moon. Likewise, the Charisma of MGR, the three letters magic word would only exist for ever as far as tamil cinemas are concerned.
Yes, no one could have even imagined the tremendous response given by the public at Albert Theatre on the eve of 100th day celebration of “Ayirathil Oruvan” which was originally released in 1965, 50 years back, when most of us were not even born. He had left this world for his heavenly abode in 1987, almost 27 years completed. But still, the gratitude without any expectation given away by the tamil speaking people towards their beloved leader had been proven beyond any doubts which could not be expressed in words. The gratefulness shown by them on that day to a great man who was a dedicated altruistic was awesome. He is still being remembered by them all over the world irrespective of their cast, creed and religion, he lives in their hearts. Time may pass and fade away but memories of him will live for immortal ages.
On that day, the 1040 seated capacity movie hall was jam-packed with around 1500 die-hard fans of MGR, most of them standing near the screen, sitting on the pathway – shouting, dancing and whistling whenever their demigod appeared on the screen. Most of them born after 1965 and I saw hundreds of people in their twenties and early thirties who have born after his death or were kids at the time of his death respectively. The stylish hero had carved a niche for himself not only in the field of acting but in every field of cinema. His body language and the elegant style of fighting (especially fencing) are not only magnetising the younger generations but will definitely create a centre of attention in the minds of future generation too. He had marked an indelible link which will remain eternally.
