From Murgadoss's Tweet it can be said that Kaththi has taken the highest day one collections for a Tamil film. The amount mentioned Rs 23.80Cr worldwide is huge by any yardstick for a Tamil film.
Kaththi has opened up new vistas for Tamil films. A big Tamil film with a wide release has been able to create new or expanded existing markets. The Vijay film has also shown that if a film is marketed aggressively it can get a opening irrespective of its early WOM.
