Rajesh... I wasn't hinting at a particular movie or actor. If Aarambam did a 100cr and people accepted it ..fair enough. Not sure why the media or movie/box office trackers do not consider that as one of the 100 cr movies. Anyway, irrespective of that, I don't remember me or any other hubber like Ajay/Cedy/MB etc who went into an Ajith thread and post trash against Ajith or Aarambam when this was announced by AMR. My point was...on the day that the 100 cr was officially announced for Kaththi, I could see so much negativity questioning the authenticity..that's all.

Nope my point is when crew is announcing that the movie has collected this much while movie is still running
It is actually for promotional purpose nothing more than that.
Whether movie had collected it or not . Even if it had collected whether It had given profit to everyone involved or not is very difficult to say in the current scenario
So this entire debate on how much it collected is all waste of time according to me

Agree about marketing tactics; however, according to me that happens only to movies that get bad reviews etc....just to nullify the reviews. Anyway, if it's a genuine 100cr and a huge hit...it will get pointed out and referred to as one in every article and every box office conversation in future. But using that to degrade a movie/actor is not reasonable too, which is what my post was mainly for.

It is difficult to say accurately about the collections, profits, is perfectly true.
AMR announced the number around the second week (correct me if I am wrong) and it was completely out of the blue. ARM was there, right from day 1. This is one difference.
Also, ARM's numbers were debated, validated by some, confirmed by some known industry trackers, substantiated to a certain extent by the movie's tremendous performance in measurable overseas markets. It was the talk of twitter every since he disclosed the figures.
On the contrast, AMR's claims went completely unnoticed. I don't remember seeing any confirmation or validation beyond recording & reporting his claims by media like the link you provided. Correct me if I am wrong here.
Kaththi won critical reviews, theatre owners recorded their joy and more importantly you can see good WOM from neutrals and pundits alike. I hope you have followed the fortunes of Kaththi enough to agree.
The movie had one of the best ever pre-booking rush in history. It had a tremendous opening and enjoyed an uninhibited 5 day opening weekend.
Today you see almost all media reporting it. It's a good movie people have enjoyed and they have seen others enjoy along with them in theaters as well. So many of my neutral friends had good things to say about Kaththi. ARM's numbers are looking believable not by default but by deference.
Let's take Anjaan's case. The makers tried their best to say the movie had a great opening, recorded superb numbers despite overwhelming negative reviews. But their claims fell on deaf ears. People had moved beyond Anjaan already and instead picked Lingusamy for some special treatment. It was given, Anjaan's fate.
Arambham, I leave it to you as I do not follow beyond Vijay and his movies with the same vigour and depth.
Now, as Dammy says this will set a precedent. Every big film movie will come out with numbers. It is what happens around those 'updates' and how authentic it looks/feels will play a key role in accepting or rejecting it. There will be questions raised every single time a BO update comes, but how majority feel about it based on their personal validation would decide which side the verdict falls.
To me, I can clearly see which way Kaththi's verdict is.

It is very clear that it is some tactics used so that the movie can run for another few more days....I guess Kaththi has gone for a big release all over the world almost somewhat like a saturation release so that it can take huge returns in the first week itself if the budget of the movie is high....it had competition in the form of Hindi SRK's HNY - Farah Khan direction and "punitive" Vishal waiting to become the next IlayaThalapathi from PuratchiThlapathi Tamil movie Poojai with Hari direction.....It is really worth if the movie has done 100C business when these movies are there for competition. Also surprising to note that Vishal's Poojai has picked up in Malaysia...am wondering what is the state in other countries...

If what you say and other fans here say that this is true...then nobody should blindly talk about Ajith and his movies...

Surya wasted movies with 7am Arivu, Maattraan and Anjaan....his lot of hard work has been undone in these movies....wish VP's Maaass movie will resurrect his career....

Leo, try picking one instance when there has been blind talking.
