'Kaththi' Box Office: Vijay Starrer Becomes Biggest Tamil Hit of 2014
Time and again, Vijay expands his boundaries and the box office benchmarks never remain the same for this actor. The Ilayathalapathy has done it again with his latest movie "Kaththi", which has become the biggest hit of 2014 (until November).
With the total collection crossing 110 crore worldwide, the Tamil film has emerged as the blockbuster of the year. "Kaththi" has done highest business in not just one centre but in many places (domestic and international circuits).
Big movies of this year like Vijay's "Jilla", Ajith Kumar's "Veeram", Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" and Surya "Anjaan", could not cross the century mark and disappeared from theatres in a few weeks after getting fantastic openings at box office.
The success story of "Kaththi" started with the film's biggest opening for a Kollywood movie in Tamil Nadu. It made 12.5 crore to beat "Jilla" (approximately 8 crore), "Veeram" (approximately 7.5 Crore) and "Kochadaiiyaan" (approximately 9 crore) and also had the biggest extended weekend as Vijay's flick raked in 36.5 crore.
The Tamil movie is not only going strong in Tamil Nadu but also in other regions. In Karnataka and Kerala, Vijay has become the next big star after Rajinikanth, with "Kaththi" earning above 8.5 crore and ₹9 crore respectively in the neighboring states.
Other big films released earlier this year could just make even half of what Vijay's films made in the afore-mentioned centres. In the US, UK and Malaysia, "Kaththi" has emerged as one of the highest grosser in the current year and has earned close to 20 crore.
However, apart from these records, it is the total collection of the movie that makes "Kaththi" the biggest film of the year. The movie has so far reached the 100-crore mark and still going strong. The Vijay starrer has become the fourth Tamil movie to reach the 100-crore mark worldwide after Rajinikanth's "Sivaji", "Enthiran" and Vijay's "Thuppakki".

Kaththi team is planning a special release tonight ...
Though the Indian audiences couldn't see the song 'Paalam' in Kaththi, reportedly, the overseas prints of the movie had this merry celebratory song. It's said that the song comes after the scene in which the lead pair gets engaged.
Now, fans back home will get an opportunity to see the song. Kaththi's official Facebook page has updated a short while back that,"Are you ready for the deleted Paalam song? Coming tonight!"
Guys, how do you expect the song to be? http://behindwoods.com/tamil-movies-...e-tonight.html

Jilla ran for 100 days and was leading the box office with decent collections. Veeram fell after a few weeks behind Jilla. Anjaan and Koch were disasters.
