Guess Shankar couldn't have got a better actress than Amy Jackson for I.

To reply to your next question : We fans think or want certain heroines to be casted with our idol. We also feel that (again media fuels it up) a Hero choses his heroine. In reality, its all contracts/negociations/disponibility and mainly in the hands of the employer - the producer.

For Shankar, the specifications would be like - term 2 years, no attendence to media or any public event without permission. So accordingly the Heroines are picked up, and being Shankar, right from the star cast to technical team, it has to be catchy. Vikram could have suggested Amy (Thandavam connection), and Amy having no other contracts in hand would have accepted the deal. Plus, due to heavy CGI, a 'Slim Figure' would have suited the needs best - add in the other glamorious elements, what else you would need if a british girl is in on board.

Now try to sum it up and see whether you have anyother heroine entering the frame in such a strict scenario.

Few reputed directors, take GVM, can express their need stating that I wrote this character keeping Trisha in mind. Then too, the producer convinces the artists, else the director should compromise. In most cases the film maker and the arists are in good terms, eventually the negociations/contract goes well. Its actually the same in foreign industry too. Quentin Tarantino wrote the character 'Shosanna' for Mélanie Laurent (don't ask me who she is, you risk piercing my heart). So, he waited for her, then he assured her about the challenges and started filming. Same with Kill Bill & Uma Thurman. He waited for her for other reasons before filming Vol. 2, and he still waiting for her to do the next volume.

But in very rare cases Heroines are specifically picked even when/if they are involved in prestigious long term contract projects in other states, for that the Hero really needs to be a Superstar.

Now another question may rise : how come sensational heroines like Samantha or Hansika or Kajal or Tamannna are acting with top heroes in every industry ?

Until they are sensational, their wheels roll. But their intervention is very limited. The contracts are not so strict, unless they made a major decesional error of signing with a particular Production house for a particular time period. So, they shuffle between movies. The contracts are not very rigid and the time is very limited too. Say a schedule can be done in a fortnight for indoors and another week for outdoors and songs. They get a time lapse before travelling to Swiss for a song or 2. Thats it. Their work is done, as they don't even have to come for dubbing !

Thus the 'sensational' heroines of a given period act more movies. Exception is Anuska, as she is always awesome *winks*
