This is a piece that has an emotional impact on me!
Actor Omar Sharif passed away today, and the occasion brings back a lot of memories. This has a lot to do with
my first job in North America and the person from Wales (United Kingdom) who was then the head of the
department where I had my first job. She knew Omar Sharif personally, and told me that I looked exactly like
Omar Sharif, as he looked in the movie "Dr. Zhivago". I went out and bought a VHS cassette of the movie
(which was hard to find because it was quite old at that time), and was stunned to see the resemblance.
In fact, I still have friends who call me Dr. Zhivago! Needless to say, I have most, if not all of his movies
in my collection.
Without keeping on talking (which I am told that I am very good at!), here is "somewhere my love...",
(Lara's Theme) from David Lean's classic movie starring Omar Sharif and Julie Christe; composed and conducted
by Frenchman Maurice-Alexis Jarre:
