மௌண்ட் ரோடு சரஸ்வதி ஸ்டோர்ஸ்., பாண்டி பஜார் சௌத் இந்தியா மியூசிக் எம்போரியம், உஸ்மான் ரோடு லக்ஷ்மி மியூசிகல்ஸ் என்று அலைந்து எஸ்.பி, ஈ.பி, எல்.பி என்று கலைத்துப் போட்டு வாங்கி அழகாக போட்டோ ஆல்பம் போல இருக்கும் ஆல்பத்தில் வரிசையாக அடுக்கி வைத்து அப்பப்போ ஃப்ரீ டைமில் என் அண்ணனை அழைத்து ( வேறு யாராவது அந்த hmv கிராமபோனைத் தொட்டால் சாமியாடி விடுவாராக்கும்) பாட்டு லிஸ்ட் கொடுத்தால் வரிசையாக இசைத்தட்டுகளை எடுத்துப் போட ரசித்த நாட்கள்...

காசெட் பிளேயர் வந்ததும் இது காணாமல் போக... ஒரே ஒரு ரிகார்டை எடுத்து ஒளித்து வைத்திருந்தேன்.. அது எட்டு துண்டுகளாக கிடைத்தபோது

டேப் போயி, காசெட் போயி.. சிடி போயி... டிவிடி போயி... எம்.பி எண்கள் எல்லாம் போயிகிட்டே இருக்கு... அடுத்ததாக நம்ம தலையில் ஒரு சிப் பதிச்சு அதில் அப்பப்போ பாட்டு பதியலாம் என்று வரப்போகுதாம்...

மூக்கடைத்த குரலில் மனதை மயங்க வைக்கும் குலாம் அலியின் குரலில் இந்த நிக்காஹ் படப்பாடலைக் கேட்கும்போது யாத் ஆ ரஹா ஹை...

madhu: I think Columbus mistook them for Indians. They are now knoown as native Americans. We are known as Asian Indians !

chinnakkaNNan: I was planning to write a book with the title, "Idiot America". I usually go for a cup of mocha around 3 pm and browse the book store next door. One day I found a book with the same title (Idiot America) displayed prominently. I thought of picking up the book after making my rounds. By the time I finished browsing and went to pick up that book it was gone. Now, I am looking for another title ! A couple of years back I posted some of my views iin some thread. Some hubbers wanted me to continue. If I locate that thread I will continue.

இன்னும் கூட சில கிராமஃபோன் ரிக்கார்டுகள் என்னிடம் உள்ளன. 78 rpm, EP, LP என மூன்று வகை இசைத்தட்டுகளும் மாதிரிக்கு வைத்திருக்கிறேன். ஆனால் ப்ளேயர் தான் இல்லை.
அதே போல ஒலி நாடாக்களும் சிலவற்றைப் பாதுகாத்து வருகிறேன்.

இசைத்தட்டுக்களைப் பொறுத்த மட்டில் புரசைவாக்கம் ராஜா மியூஸிக்கல்ஸ், மிகவும் பிரபலமானது. அவருடைய சகோதரர் மோகன் அண்ணா சாலை ரேடியோ மார்க்கெட்டில் ஓரிரு கடைகளை வைத்திருந்தார். மோகனுடன் அவருடைய இன்னோர் சகோதரர் சரவணனும் உடனிருந்து இசைத்தட்டு விற்பனை செய்து வந்தார்கள். ஒலிநாடாக்கள் வந்தபின்னர் இவை வெகுவாக மறையத்தொடங்கின. இளையராஜா அவர்களின் பாடல்கள் காலம் வரை இசைத்தட்டு பரவலாக விற்பனையாகி வந்தது. ஏ.ஆர்.ரகுமான் நுழைவிற்குப் பின்னர் அத்தனையும் மாறிப்போனது. எக்கோ ரிக்கார்டிங் கம்பெனியின் மூலமாகத் தான் பெரும்பாலான இளையராஜா படங்களின் இசைத்தட்டுக்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டன. இவையன்றி லஹரி, இன்ரிக்கோ, அவ்வப்போது ஹெச்எம்வி என வெளியிடப்பட்டன.



டெல்லியில் ஒரு இசைத்தட்டு விற்பனைக்கூடம்

madhu: What is shown in the video clip is a record player, not a gramaphone. Gramaphone has a horn and the pick up arm is heavy. Record players are coming back with new technology enhancements. LPs are also coming back.

I learnt that the record players (incl gramaphone records of 78 rpm) are being manufactured with the latest technology including USB drives, so as to record them live and store them. It is also available in India (of course online sales, I presume). It seems they work under magnetic reading capability 0r magnetic stylus or something of that kind, with which we can play around and upto 10000 records.
Can you elaborate on this?

Raghavendra: I don't think they use magnetic pick up in turn tables/record players. But, USB connection, wireless, pre amplifiers are common. They used to make these record players only for LP records. Now it is 33 rpm, 45 rpm and 78 rpm records. I have not followed the developments closely. In fact, I have to transfer all my LP records and audio cassettes collected over the last 50 years to CDs or memory cards. Then comes all the movies I took - 8mm film,VHS tape and 8mm tape and negatives and slides ! Big project ! I hope my movie projector works !
