This film follows the same template of Papanasam. Not much promotion. No Songs. Keeping low key profile and low budget also. This is reflected in the reservation so far. Except fans common people have less idea about this project. It seems Kamal wants this way. It looks like new strategy. If the content is good as we expect, it will go in the way of Papanasam.
See Vijay TV, there is more promotion for their Diwali channel release. Not a single ad. for Thoongavanam so far.

Sasikala buys Vedhalam outright
Posted in Tamil Nadu By Ayyappa Prasad On November 3, 2015
Chennai, Nov 3(tamilnaducentral): Sasikala owned Jazz Cinemas has bought the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of Vedhalam. Vedhalam starring Ajith and Shruthi Haasan- Lakshmi Menon is directed by Siva. It is produced by A M Rathinam. Censored with a U certificate, Vedhalam is scheduled for Nov 10th release.
As per the earlier trade reports, Vedhalam was bought by Jazz Cinemas for the Chennai city area distribution rights. Coimbatore area was bought by Sarvam Cinemas, NSC by Pandi Suresh, TT by Subbaiah, Salem by 7G cinemas Siva and Nellai- Kanyakumari by Sekar. Now, in an overnight deal the entire Tamil Nadu distribution rights has been bought by Jazz Cinemas. In short, all the other area distributors will have to deal with Jazz Cinemas.
Jazz Cinemas is a company that is owned by Sasikala relatives and it has been proved through various documents. Jazz acquired the 11 screen multiplex Luxe in Velachery from SPI Cinemas that own Satyam and Escape multiplex.
Vedhalam is getting dubbed as Aavesham in Telugu and getting a release in Andhra, a first for Ajith in eight years. Rathinam who has a clout in Andhra has made this possible. The acquisition of Vedhalam by Jazz Cinemas also ensures that Tamil Nadu entertainment tax will be exempted and thereby a 30% saving for the distributor. Puli was not exempted from ET because the committee cited violence against kids and women. The film had a U certificate, a requisite for seeking ET exemption.

No, I don't remember complaining "back then" (whenever that is). But why should it matter? Does that mean I should not voice my views now?
I feel only in TN (and a few retrograde states) these things will happen. For no fault of Kamal, screen count is deliberately being reduced in the crucial first 10 days, so it impacts the financial result.
This will likely happen to other stars in the future also.

Yes, pathetic state indeed. Of course no denying that DMK did a lot of these as well. Cinema and politics are so very deeply intertwined in TN and is quite unlikely to separate. TV will suffer initially but they cannot crush his spirit if that is their intention ..

Excuse me, I'm terribly sorry to intrude, what about the booking status on those screens where the movie is releasing? how is the advance booking going for you? i presume you find it hard to book a single seat in mayajaal first day?

Oh, the drama! i'm not looking forward to "in your face" comments but isn't this simple demand vs supply.
please keep your hissy-fits coming, guys! Your excellent sense of perspective is really showing me up for the how uninformed people we are.
