Reg the rare pic - IIRC, his official site(?) - coundamani.com, now inactive, had his first movie as Raman ethanai Ramanadi and some body* said (here, in one of the threads), he played a taxi driver in that movie. This scene could be from that movie.

Some history

After Vaidhegi Kaathirundhaal, GM was almost a rage and a must in Tamil films. I think he was the one who started charging 1 lakh per schedule. In Udhaya Geetham, he is a pOli saamiyaar collecting uNdiyal kaasu from tree to tree in different vehicles showing his transformation into a rich - cycle --> moped --> and finally in a car (Maruti 800) which was said to be his.
