Every week I hunted for these songs and got em all thanks to a some mahanubhava..

nanna jothege is a breezy soft rock number and kanavarisu has its share of magic rock movements (bass guitar and the lead elec guitar)..
njoy the songs and the innocent picturisation as well

I went to native for mariamman pookkuli festival which is a 13 days grand festival there. Heard / reminded some mariamman devotional songs and some of them I belive from IR. One song is 'Enga Ooru Maariamma'. not sure this is IR song but certainly fabulous song & fantastic singing by MV, what a singer

Listened to Mamaen Machaan from Murattu Kalai sung by SPShailaja. Superb song which oscillates between the lady's feeling for her lover and the dangerous situation her lover is at present. This feel is superbly conveyed in the orchestration throughout the song. Unforgettable interludes and the solo violing & flute that comes briefly after the first line in each charanam. I love SPS's voice and rendition for this song, it enhances the mystic ambience of the song.

Fantastic song always takes me back to my +2 days

Life can't be better than doing your +2 in the same village where you did your 1-10, go to the tea stall daily, read newspapers and listen to Ilayaraja in box speakers

Or use the new-found-freedom of appA not fretting over your radio-listening-time to get drenched in IOKS...or discuss with your cousins for hours on interludes / new singers like Jency Shailaja and talk abour Raja all the time...oh, those were the days. (Ofcourse it also had tests, exams, frequent arguements with MSV fanatics at school, relatives' homes etc but such only added to the thrill)!

Appreciation of this song will be incomplete without mentioning the simple yet very effective, why even innovative percussion arrangement

Indira Sundariya - fun and jaunty

Nilavae Nee Varavendum - the song that brought me to this album...the guitar chords invitingly pull you into the song, the beginning of the chords actually remind me of the beginning of "moonlight sonata" ....very intimate and persuasive.

Oh Unnale Unnale - nice enough.

Oru Ganamaagilum - seems at odds with this album...seems more of a fit for a piece with a plot centered on the carnatic music. Have to admit didn't give it a fair listen...may appeal at a later time.

Paadu Paateduthu- have a bad habit of skipping over songs like this, (which is why I missed over much of Manasukkul Mathappu until I read hubbers' posts about it), Mano sounds in many places like SPB, jazzy and an undertone of funk...great brass inclusion, curious combo...the second interlude sounds very familiar, some other song but i can't put my finger on it (from 2:29 to 2:53) Uma voice actually sounds too sombre for this piece

Uthayam Neeye - heartfelt and poignantly reverent, reminds me of "Varayoo" from Aathma...S. Janaki enchants...
flute is amazing...it flits in and out with snatches of a solo
the low woodwind that answers S. Janaki's line "kalai poonthendral un pugal paadum, solai then pookal unnaithan serum" ...what a captivating effect it creates

Lyrics...what can one say about the genius that Vaali is?

Recently been delving into Geetanjali Album by Maestro...was caught like a deer in the headlights with
"Namaste" which led me to the rest...though it certainly deserves a post all to itself....soon...soon.

"Nilavondru Kanden" a smoothly suave refuge after a long day...SPB soothes and scintillates

"Kai Veesum Thamarai" nice and familiar, special mention for violins

"Oomai Megamae" - Raagadeva's voice...wouldn't miss listening to it! Sorrowful lyrics that is surprisingly buoyant and gives the feeling of a morning song/uplifting song...IR has sung some real pathos songs...here he seems to keep a lilt in his voice...interlude is gorgeous...brings to mind pastoral fields...don't know what is in background sounds like three chimes played again and again...wooden? keyboard?
