As for me, it's zillch. My Dad and his side of family are hardcore MGR fans, so only MGR films for us then. Otherwise, my childhood big screen experience limited to lots of Kamal films and a smattering of Rajini films.
Inviting NOV to the stage now..
Thanks Rakesh, hope Nov and Joe will come with more details. I have started this topic just to stop other un-necessary topics to this thread and I wish people talk about only our NT and NT and NT.... no one else....
Cheers,
Sathish

One thing, I can assure you that the responses are lot more subdued than in TN, that's for sure. But athe MGR fans vs NT fans sanda ellam nadanthirukku (info courtesy of HC whistling MGR fan = my dad), so I trust there would have been whistles and shouts during NT film screening.
Sad that I missed out (I'm looking at you, acchan), so I really hope that they start rereleasing his films here.

Cut-outs, paalabishegams, garlanding, etc are all unheard of in Malaysia. Like Rakesh mentioned, at most you would have whistling when favourite stars appeared on screen.
Sivaji fans then were from the middle-class and upwards and had always appeared dignified. The rivalry was more through verbal arguments than physical demonstrations, if you get what I mean.

NOV, back in my hometown, they actually got physical it seems. Once. But looking around, I'd say MGR fans are more than NTs, considering most of us were in plantations and MGR's escapism appeals more. Even Minnal on average play more MGR songs than NTs during the old song slot (they are awesome as well, no questions). And then, there are folks like me who embraced NT when got older. Most of my cousins who were MGR fans when we were kids, now would look at NT with lots of reverence.

I have already acknowledged that Rakesh.
Your view/experiences would be rural, having grown and lived in the plantations.
Mine would be urban, being born and bred in the city. My family and neighbours prefered Sivaji, but there was no hatred for the rival. My father took us at the most for two movies a year, and inevitably it will be a Sivaji movie. Having said that, we also watched EVP.
aside: My elder brothers were bitter rivals, and just for the heck of it took on both heroes to champion their cause. My father put a stop to it when my 2nd younger brother took a chalk and left a message on the door - annan ennadaa thambi ennada avasaramaana ulagaththilE
and at his deathbed, my eldest brother - a purpoted rival fan - requested for.... vaazha ninaiththaal vaazhalaam....
