Dig:
skr, yes, it is Goran. The pic’s nothing much to do with any anniversary. I was lamenting about the lack of S&V style in the current day game to one of my friends. Despite there being some superb display of tennis in Roger’s finesse and Rafa’s relentlessness, overall, today’s tennis, to me, is nowhere as exciting and engrossing as that of the past, where most of the players, the ladies included, used to employ the S&V technique. In this process I wanted to remember and cherish the memories of my all time fav, the ace machine, Goran who was one of the very good exponents of this game. (One of the very few newer dudes who tried to carry on this tradition was a lesser-known American, Taylor Dent. Alas, he too perished due to injuries that resulted in a stunted, underachieving career) Frankly, I find this ‘stick-to-the-baseline-and-thulp’ style of today’s game rather dull and monotonous. It’s like as if the players tell each other before the start of the game: “Indha bordera thandi naanum varamaaten, neeyum varakkoodadhu”
End-dig.
