In lot of Annan's songs, he follows the style where he sings one line at normal pitch and then sings the next line (often the first line again) at a much higher pitch.
Is he trying to spoof any particular singer, MD or a general singing trend of his times? Or is it a unique style of his own?

சும்மா அண்ணனோட இசை ஆர்வம்/புலமையப் பத்தி தெரிஞ்சுக்கலாம்னு :hehehe:.

Some time back there was an interview by Chandrabose (in Mega TV?). He said that people who come from the stage should know all the crafts except editing. He came to Madras for acting but was able to make a mark in music. He even quoted the example of aNNan and said that GM only wanted to become a villain, which he was doing on stage, but he was so versatile and hence was able to make it big in comedy.

The point here is GM’s music is not a casual effort. If we closely observe, we can find that he has a very good music sense. And really does get annoyed if music was not given due respect (kaRi kada bhai scene).

Coming to your kostin, I think he made this unique way of singing, like his unique way of comedy -not many dared to do such comedy before aNNan. His singing blends his musical and comical talends and when people appreciated he should have stuck to it. Even here there are many presentations. We need to understand that he changes the tune and even lyrics most of the times, to his own comfort and the presentation is terrific. And that is why Sridhar’s song collection of aNNan is a historic collection. I need to check which was the last update and we need to start from there.

App, Plum can add more. I think Kaambli can do a good analysis, but he is not posting here for a long time.
