Thanks a ton Suresh ji for introducing to Raj's ragamanjari site. As KV said, it is a treasure site. While I was browsing through, I found one unique thing about the site. It seems Raj picks rare songs combined with rare raagams composed by Maestro. It is difficult to pick like that. I stumbled upon this wonderful post: http://rajamanjari.blogspot.com/2011/08/blog-post.html. This Kannada song for a split second I definitely thought it is Kedaram as it was sounding similar to 'Ithu oru Pon Maalai Pozhuthu', but it is not. It seems this songs was composed in 'malliga vasantham'. Never heard this raagam at all. Luckily we have the video of this song too, but it is noisy at few places. The version Raj shared is of excellent quality. I am totally into this song now. Thanks a lot Raj!

Much of the day was well spent listening to this . Treading between loss, sorrow, hope and happiness within a minute without any huge shifts.

The song, of course, is one of the best he composed in that decade.

    No Wizzy ,
    They are different
Rajsmed (Rajesh) is a guy from US who uploads really rare stuff of the Maestro.
Infact it was through him that we got the video songs of classics like Eera Vizhi Kaaviyangal , Balanagamma etc

Rajendra Kumar is a hardcore Raja rasigar right from 1976 and his writings are very nice and interesting.
Have come to know a lot of Rare Raja songs , insights through him.

    V_S ,
You are absolutely right on Saavira Janamahalu
Its a stunner and i was addicted to it when Raj introduced it to me last Aug during the Geethanjali event.
I will try giving you the link of where he has read out in his inimitable style , the description of this wonder.

Was discussing the song with the uploader as to what was the raga , it looked like Abhogi/Sriranjani
Then i checked that the Ni was differing resulting in the structure Sa Ri2 Ga2 Ma1 Da2 Ni3 Sa | Sa Ni3 Da2 Ma1 Ga3 Ri2 Sa which is in effect Gowrimanohari sans pa .When i looked up in Wiki Janya list , it is classified as Vasanthashree (Amba Manohari) , never heard of this before
    Raja magic yet again
This is a song im highly addicted to.

Btw there is a Tamil version of this song also

i read that the thai moogambigai song above also has another rare scale use -- a derivative of lathangi....so check out for this ragamalika gem in detail - vasanthashree and Dhathri ragas and god knows what more rare ragas are there in that song !

    "ninnukkOri varNam, varNam
isaiththida ennaiththEdi varaNum, varaNum" on repeat this morning (agni natchaththiram, KSC).

I'm glad I didn't get a ticket - with that drums of first interlude making me drive insane
