Well, some BR movies haven't aged well. Mundhi maadhiri eerkalai

Thala, when he "explodes" - avvalavu convincing-a irundhucha? Last night, a couple of examples bhakiaraj murder scene and when he screams at his servant when the game is up. Thala standards ku not so convincing, ennaya poruthavaraikkum

Yes I do see some kind of bias towards Kamal created later ones when compared with Kamal acted earlier ones or at least where the kamal's involvement is high. I do agree with the fact that Kamal created ones did raise the bar in Tamil Cinema but finding fault with his earlier films where he just acted is not fair.

Yes Kamal as an actor was still maturing during that stage and I don't think he became complete actor until later.

It's not like pathinaaru vayadhinilE is being shot down. That is all kinds of excellent.
I don't think sigappi is that good.

I am not great admirer of BR but my point was Kamal as a creator could not drag the audience along with him even though he could make movies to perfection if given a chance. (nooru, iranooru varusham pin thangiyirukkuRa indha tamizh cinemala vera enna panna mudiyumngreengala) Like Marudhanayagam would have been perfect movie from what I heard about his depth of research and depth of work was done before the movie could hit the floors. But it was very unfortunate that Movie has not been materialized yet because of the fear of its commercial viability. But the likes of BR struck the chord with audience by making decent movies for our audience even though all had their own share of flaws. Sivappu Rojakkal was definitely a good movie considering the development of Tamil Cinema at that point in time. ambuttuthEn, inna neenga pesunga.

16V does not need a time handicap. I like it as is even today: 'seeppu kuduththu vittaaLE...sillaRai kuduththu vittALA?...idhu eppadi irukku?'

    Sigappi is not like that.
And moreover, it is quoted as en example of BR's stamping authority outside comfort zone etc. adhunaala edhirkka vENdi irukku.

btw..even back then, bayamE varaliyE.... oru maadhiri forced-A irunchch.
