Pratap Pothenukku ENgal Thanga Raja theriyalaina enna thappu? If he got a chance to direct NT, what matters is did he make good use of it and deliver a decent product. And the answer is he did. Yatramozhi is far better than what many other directors delivered with NT. For that, I am grateful to Pratap even if he is ignorant of Veerapandiya Kattabomman or Thillana Moganambal.

Point taken .But I feel ,even though he is a mallu , he has been in Tamil industry ..acted many movies ,directed many movies , 2 of them from sivaji production ..Kushbukku therinja aLavu kooda avarukku theriyilla . athaan konjam kaduppachu

Coming to kushboo matter, I feel although Pratap was behind in recognising "names" of sivaji movies, my hunch is he'll have a better grasp of Sivaji the actor than Kushboo. Might be wrong but got a feeling Kush is one of those who are good at integrating at a surface level (tamizhnattula settle aayachu, DMk-la vERA irukkAnga, thirumba thirumba kEttu kEttu surface level-la parasakthinu oNNu irukkaRadhu theriyin...) but will not stand a rigorous test of understanding what the Sivaji phenomenon was.

IMO, by making very good use of Sivaji in yatramozhi, Pratap has already displayed enough understanding of Sivaji, the actor so would go beyond surface level of understanding

Have read the interviews of (Prathap's contemporaries) Mammootty, Mohanlal & even seniors Prem nazir and Thilakan in the Malyalam media in the 80s and early 90s & pleasantly surprised with their awareness level of NT movies.

Among the general mallu public, NT is remembered there for movies like Kattabomman, Pasamlar, Thiruvilayadal, Thangappathakkam etc. than his 'masala' hits like Engal thanga raja. This may be the case with Prathap also.

watched Uththamapauththiran today in Jaya Movies. What a clear differentiation of characters though look alike! For the part of Vikraman NT maintained the tempo of a spoiled brother addicted to drinks and women till the end even by his slightly shaking walk during the song sequence of Un Azhagai Kandu kondal. Watch the speed with which NT rides the horse in the climax without any stunt double and his amazing style of sword wielding with an exuberant youthfulness. Made me to sigh that this movie should be digitized and converted to color.

We are happy that the MGR thread is also growing up but, as far his films are concerned it is now beyond doubt established that no MGR movie whatever collections it had made in the past alongside NT movies, cannot stand to the records being created by our Karnan movie. My only request is let us not think much about MGR side but we need to concentrate on our aim of hitting the bull's eye with a careful selection of a sequence of NT's evergreen classics in the modern formats. The impetus gained by the success of Karnan needs to be kept up for its tempo as the present era also belongs to NT howsomany actors come and go. Let us not give up! In MGR thread, let his fans enjoy reminiscent thoughts about their hero, which in now way is going to hamper the succession of successes of NT in his new digital and 3D avtars.
