இன்று காமெடி, சென்டிமென்ட், காதல் என அனைத்திலும் சூப்பர் ஹிட் படமான வைதேகி காத்திருந்தாள் படம் இரவு 11 மணிக்கு ஒளிபரப்பாகிறது. இப்படத்தின் மூலம் தமிழகத்தில் பலருக்கும் கோமுட்டித் தலையன் என்ற அழகான அடைமொழி கிடைக்கக் காரணமாக இருந்தார் கவுண்டமணி. கவுண்டமணி, செந்தில் இணையில் வந்த முதல் சூப்பர் ஹிட் படம் இதுதான் என்பதும் இப்படத்திற்கு உள்ள சிறப்பம்சமமாகும்.

முத்திரையாக, வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தமிழ் சினிமாவின் டிரென்ட் செட் படமான சின்னக் கவுண்டர் ஒளிபரப்பாகிறது. இதில் நகைச்சுவை மன்னன் கவுண்டமணியோடு, வடிவேலுவும் இணைந்து அசத்தியிருப்பார். வடிவேலு எப்படி ஒல்லியாக, குச்சி போல காணப்பட்டார் என்பதைப் பார்க்க ஆசையாக இருந்தால் இந்தப் படத்தை மறக்காமல் பாருங்கள்.

Plot: Heroe's uyirukku uyiraana lover kills herself in a misunderstanding. Hence he becomes a nomad singing in the night. Heroyini's husband dies on the day of their marriage. These were flashbacks. The dose of sOgam does not end there. Heroine,s father sings "thagadhimitha thagadhimitha thagadhimitha thagadhOm" in high pitch, vomits blood and dies. Will the hero and horoine join in life? Nay, with their life almost meaningless, they try to bring young lovers together, facing much opposition. The tragedy follows as the hero gets stabbed by gadappaarai. Not sure he is living or dead, helping the young lovers get married, finally revealed that he is dead.

With the plot running closer to the likes of thulaabaaram, the director cleverly blends the movie with comedy. For instance, immediately after the two flashbacks, as the audience has soaked their towels with tears, the scene cuts to a kuLaththangarai, where GoundamaNi with a thalappaa, is pal veLakking with a vEppanguchchi and Senthil runs in with some sOgam. But this sogam is different and what follows is some rip roaring stuff.

The movie was a big hit because of Raasaththi onna (whattay song!), VK (aanastu kObichuppaar) / RR's performance, screen play and direction. The talk was also on a new comedy pair called GoundamaNi and Senthil, hitherto not known to many. Their chemistry worked as if they have worked together for some 100 movies earlier.

Despite, the petromax scene, mEndil breaking scene (ennaNNE odachiputteenga), Senthil sOgam scene and what follows (avanga varalla?), customer kalleRiyum scene, the scene that stands out for me is this:

The guy who turns out to be the young lover, comes into the village as an innocent guy with almost nothing. After sometime he develops and wears a pant / shirt, incidentally spotted by aNNan.

BTW kOmutti in kOmutti thalaiyan should be derived from kOL mootti. kOL - sissy complaints, mootti - pOttu koduththal. Any alternate thhoughts?
