b) How much of this is a result of progression/alteration in your musical ideologies and how much of it is driven by industry trends?

2) Can you share with us your interest in these genres and some of the artists who have inspired you?

3) As a senior musician and composer who has lived through many years of live music and real playing, do you think a revival can be brought about in this? What is it that could be done to make the common audience and music industry embrace and celebrate live/real music playing again?

மேற்கத்திய நாடுகளில் குழந்தைகளுக்கான பாடல்களின் இசைகோர்ப்பு மிகவும் தரமான இசையில் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. பிற்காலத்தில் அவர்களது இசையார்வம் அது போன்ற இசையை ஒட்டியே வளரவில்லை என்றாலும் கூட, மண்ணின் இசை, வாத்தியக்கருவிகளைப் பற்றிய அறிவு அந்த இசையின் மூலமாகவே சென்றடைகிறது. அதுபோல ஒன்று நம் மண்ணில் இல்லை. இதுதான் நாதஸ்வர இசை, இதுதான் தவில் இசை, இதுதான் உடுக்கை, இதுதான் பறை, இதுதான் உறுமி, இதுதான் புல்லாங்குழல் என்ற மண் சார்ந்த அடிப்படை அறிவு நம் குழந்தைகளுக்கு இல்லை. உங்களுக்கு அப்படி ஒரு "குழந்தை ஆல்பம்" வெளியிட ஆசை இருக்கிறதா? ஒவ்வொரு வீடடிலும் வைத்து இசைக்கப்படவேண்டிய ஒன்றாக அது அமைந்துவிடும் என சந்தேகமேயில்லை.

(eg: In ennai thottu aLLikkonda song from UNPP, the stream of violins begin a melody - but it is completed by sections where
there is a musical conversation between folk flute, santoor (or bulbul tara in keyboard) and then back to violins again to
end up in swarnalatha's silken voice - indha roller coaster is not there anymore in today's songs - it is more like functional
interlude with some ambient string section in background) is it bcoz of synth and multi track?
or philosophically there is nothing left to do in that area?
4. Not much of singer aalaaps or a human voice singing an instrument notes these days??? - does S.Jaanaki's vocals in "idhayam oru koyil" ring a bell?
5. when can we hear the psychedelic rock stuff that we heard in "uravenum" or "DeepangaLe " (from Dooraththu pachchai) or " Kanavu ondru thoandrudhe" ?

Sorry if the koschans were more of "cribs" by some one longing for nostalgia...

Q. Could you please make some efforts to release the BGMs of your films, (atleast the recent ones), either in the Audio CD or a separate CD. You're taking some much pain and effort to ensure that the film gets the best quality BGM (Budapest, London orchestra etc). But clearly it is not reaching out to a wider audience. We know that the rights are usually with the producers, but perhaps you could negotiate this with the producers upfront.

Will you please work on more instrumental albums like HTNi & NBW? You have cited piracy as a deterring factor for you but the same piracy is equally applicable to all music artists world wide and fusion music is still surviving and many artists are still making albums. So perhaps, can you consider instrumental albums (with Budapest orchestra etc)?

this will be the answer : "neengallaam internet, downloadingnu poitteenga - appadi irukkumbodhu instrumental albums varavey varaadhu" - most likely reply - he has given that so many times and very difficult to counter the same!

piracy may be an issue worldwide - however, royalty matterla IR kaiyya suttukittadhu madhiri yaarukkum nadandhadhaa therla ! IR 100 padathukku vangara kaasa, one pop / rock grp make in through initial payment + royalty from just one album
