Yeah, but the difference is there were people in Malayalam film industry who still offered him some meaty roles in the last, say 15 years. Big diff is NT was plagued by various illness that kinda made it impossible for him to act in strenuous and meaty roles. Thilagan's problems were admittedly self made - but look around - there are not many in MF to take on thilagan's mantle. The credit must be given to the new wave malayalam film makers who have stolen the thunder from the big two actor's coterie and have broken new grounds where a performer like thilagan can actually shine with ease. however those years when thilagan was waging a war with the establishment and silly unions in malayalam film world, were a big loss for many of his fans.
