just look at the choice of films ppl like Vikram, Vijay, even Surya take up ? do you really think they have 'kalai aarvam' ? Kamal oru thani aalaaga oru alavukku thaan maatra mudiyum - i sincerely doubt if the younger crop of stars (aarya and a few others might be an exception) even spend time improving their knowledge on cinema, art etc etc - unless the galaxy of younger stars collectively work on improving their own acts as well as contribute to the industry, we may not see more 'artistically' inclined financiers jumping into the market.

yedhukkeduthhalum these guys go abroad - europe and elsewhere for vacation - how many of them actually spend time liaising / networking with art schools, musicians, technicians, etc abroad ? or even with such kind in India ?? kalai aarvam ulla stars wud passionately pursue art for its owns sake - IMO that doesnt seem to be happening - professionalism is slowly creeping in IMO, and we are still caught up in the big star ruling the roost cycle.

for all the angst I might have abt Kamal's lesser products, he is the only one - hands down - who is dedicated completely to his profession - at least others should strive to - and i dont see a lot of ppl from theatrical arts coming into films either - which makes matters worse

இதுல கிட்டத்தட்ட எந்த தகவலுமே புதுசு இல்லை. பல தடகை 'ப்ரொட்யூசர் இம்சை'ன்னு மறைமுகமாகவும், பிற்காலத்துல கொஞ்சம் வெளிப்படையாவே 'முக்தா சீனிவாசன்'-னு பேர் சொல்லி, ஒரு coldwar இருந்ததைப் பத்தியும் நிறைய சொல்லியிருக்கார்.

ஃபில்ம் ரோல் எல்லாம் விளக்கமா பேட்டிகள்ல சொல்லியிருக்கார். கிழக்கு பதிப்பகத்தோட 'என்றென்றும் கமல்' புத்தகத்துல (பா. தீனதாயளன்) கூட வந்துச்சு.

இப்போ காலம் ரொம்ப மாறிப்போச்சி. பழைய பஞ்சாங்க கதைகளை செவி கொடுத்து கேட்க, படிக்க இப்போ இருக்கிற இளைய தலைமுறை மக்களுக்கு பொறுமையில்லை.

உள்ளதைச் சொன்னார். அதுலயும் கடைசீல 'குறையா சொல்லலை, அவர் old school'னு சொல்லி விட்டுட்டார். அப்படி சொல்றதுக்கு கொஞ்சம் time distance வேணும். இந்த 25 வருஷ nostalgiaவோட தான் சொல்ல முடியும்.

Instead of blade boxing interviews, if they give him this kind of space and definition I guess it is possible to get such lovely articles from him.
While most of the info we have read earlier, the level of respect expressed for Mani Ratnam seemed atleast a notch higher than what I have seen him express earlier.
Enjoyable and lucid.
