Jaiganes, Ularal to tha core ya
THe producer's brother didn't die becos of any high budget demanded or consumed by kamal. Appadiye kettaalum ivanga kodukka ready yaa illai. Though kamal and mani constantly asked for sight extra perks in budget, producer made sure throughout tha film that the extra perk was constantly rejected! He sent back the hollywood guy. But these guys spoke with him on the 3 days and they themselved did the stuff based on his advice. the producer stopped shoot by not granting extra Film roll for an epic scene to be shot. the actor himself used his own Film rolls. The producer dsagreed to destroy a car and they agreed that.
Above all the producer's bro dies on 100th dey where they where about to do Jubilee celebrations which means the movie was a super hit!
And about kamal investing in the film, he just came back from the loss of Raja paarvai and he sold his apartment to settle the money! And Mani never wud have got the money to produce.
Ithu thaan story nnu sonnappuram the producer cud have disagreed for the film. why on the 1st place he agreed to produce but kept on irritating the crew?
And in the end when the producer complained to kamal, he came fwd to buy the film and then GV Films brought it. What more u expect?

I agree that KH could have avoided some negative statements regarding the producer because this is a happy nostalgic tribute to a great collaborative effort.
But, jaiganes, I do not think Mani and KH set out to make an Oscar quality film. I don't ever think KH would start a film thinking that it is Oscar (or Art Film) material, given all the commercial interests that get attached to his movies. They just ended up with a great product with all aspects blending in nicely, including the camera work, art work and of course, music. Backed up by a good story (influenced by God Father and yesteryear Indian Don) and screenplay, phenomenal acting and good direction, the film is a gem, still talked about today. Which begs the question: Why dwell on the negative aspects and personalized attacks on the producer?

That is one of my points - but to be fair to the producer - if he doesnt approve of all this extra things in name of good cinema why not find another producer early on?
All said and done - anyone going through the credits of the movie would see Muktha films listed only in 'thanks section' - so not only the producer doesnt get any credit for a times 100 movie (not that he needs to given his unwillingness) - he also gets thoroughly bashed after 25 years - it is quite inelegant writing by Mr.Hassan.

Come on Sakala, enna pEchchu sudhandhiram??
Kamal was quite naughty - indeed nasty - in taking swipes at Muktha. (that heart attack samAchAram). Should be ready to face the consequences.
That Jim Allen - Hawala issue was also an interesting perspective.
