1. On Deepavali day, catch Mozart of Madras A R Rahman will appear on Jaya TV ( 11 am) to share his musical journey.To be interviewed by popular playback singer Chinmayi, the show will feature Rahman sharing a lot about his works from Roja till Kochadaiyaan.
   
   The highlight of the show is that acclaimed filmmakers like Vasanth, Praveen Kanth, S J Suryah, Kathir and Krishna will interact with Rahman on the occasion.

Good to see ARR's Oscar win still hurting someone.

Some more extended thoughts. Just want to know what exactly did Rahman accomplish after, and with the success of winning mutiple awards, incl an academy award? Again I am asking this to know an answer and so don't jump on me just for asking the question.

He along with tons of other hollywood upcoming MDs working for Hans Zimmer for some hollywoood film, did all that move any stone in hollywood, for him? How many mainstream american movie watchers know of Rahman now and actively listen him? What are the movies considerable to be called as hits for him in hollywood. Is he coming in top 10? 20?? 50???

Also, what Raja says is true too, right?! He clearly agrees that the films are chosen only within the applied list of films. So can't there not be any artist/album outside Oscars? Is academy award the ultimate authority?? No right?! At max you can say that Raja is completely wrong when he says there is only 5 or 6 members in selection. There may be more and the selection process too may be too elaborate. So we can at max take it as an புரிதல் தவறு and it has nothing insulting or defaming even by in his opinion, about ANY of the Academy winners. There are many many neutral or not so side-taken, casual music fans who don't feel anything great in Slumdog millionaire, leave alone Raja fans. But wrt this answer, one need not even look at that point at all. Even without all that, what Raja said is nothing wrong. He is very low profile and sounds normal when he says "இந்தக் குழு தீர்மானிப்பதுதான் உயர்ந்தது என்று அர்த்தமில்லை! அதைவிடச் சிறந்த இசை அவர்களின் கவனத்திற்கு வராமலே போயிருக்கலாம்."

Whatever, Raja is above all awards. No second opinion in that.

I agree with you.. He shouldn't have made a comparison. Rahman is beyond comparisons. Rahman is a God to us in music. Actually, for someone like me who doesn't believe in religion, he is a God to me in all aspects. Even when I get into arguments with other fans here, I later regret it.

See that vengaayam Parthasarathy the way he asks his question, NeengaLum Which means, Rahman has got oscars, why not you too! So he wants Raja to do whatever rahman does. He almost keeps Raja in same pedestal of Rahman! What a pure crap!! Rajavum Rahmanum oNNaa! For that case, is any contemporary MD comparable with Raja?!? Nope! If you say yes, your understanding about Raja is too limited.

Nice try, Sakala.

He worked with Zimmer for performing in the Oscar ceremony and not for any movie. Post the Oscar win, he worked in 3 Hollywood movies. Couples Retreat, 127 Hours and People Like Us. CT's Na Na made it to the long list. 127 hours earned him 2 nominations - taking his total Oscar nomination count to 5. PLU released a few months back and we have to see what is in store. While his fellow MDs struggle to grab even black ladies aka filmfare trophies, I am at least happy to see ARR in the Kodak theatre year after year

On a side note, this has helped ARR to collaborate with many stalwarts for his subsequent works. Ann Marie, Jagger, Dido, Liz Phair, Orianti, etc.

I am not sure about the position he holds in Hollywood right now. And honestly, I am not too worried about that because I didn't expect him to be at the top all of a sudden. He did that here in India but Hollywood is a bigger ball game. Hope he makes careful strides to the top. No urgency.
