Comparing the two superstars of Indian cinema is like having a religious discussion. Feelings are going to be hurt and tempers will run high. Nevertheless, it can be fun to try.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth have huge fan followings of their own, so let's take an objective look at how they compare in different parameters.
Films
Amitabh is quite simply the more prolific of the two in the number of films made every year. According to IMDb, he has acted in 10 films in 2007 and has slowed down later with about three films in 2012 so far.
Rajinikanth, on the other hand, does a film every alternate year that become events in themselves. The hype generated before the release of his films is massive.
Celebrity endorsements
Once again, Amitabh is the more visible of the two. He can be seen in numerous advertisements, endorsing a multitude of brands. Quite surprisingly though, his association with the brands does not seem to dilute the recall value. He is a safe bet for celebrity endorsements.
Rajinikanth does not appear in advertisements. If he ever decided to endorse a brand, one can only imagine the boost in sales it will get.
Social media
Amitabh Bachchan has quite a presence on the Internet with a personal blog, a Twitter account and a Facebook page. His blog is widely read and his opinion respected.
On the other hand, Rajinikanth is a meme. There are is an entire genre of jokes that play upon the 'Godliness' of Rajinikanth.
In a race to capture the attention of the urban youth, Rajinikanth may in fact be much ahead - thanks to his being frequently seen in social media, in memes, that contribute to his popularity.
Icons
The two superstars rival each other in their humility. Rajini refers to Amitabh as an emperor, while he is merely a king.
Amitabh, on the other hand, respects the sheer hard work put in by Rajini in reaching the top.
After seeing their mutual respect for each other, one can only give them equal admiration and look forward to many years of films from them.
Talent
Apples and oranges. They are two men at the top of their game with distinctly different styles.
Does one even need to compare their talents?
We've been as objective as possible. Now it's up to you! Do you think there is a winner when it comes to the two superstars? Leave us a comment below.
Can some one "Elaborate" on Bachan's talent????

Director Shankar has Rajini and Ilayaraja in mind!
Director Shankar, who is busy shooting I in China, has reportedly discussed a script that he is working on with the film’s cinematographer PC Sriram. Though Shankar is known to be one of the extravagant directors in the tinsel town, he is keen on making a simple film on the lines of Mahendran’s Uthiri Pookal and Bharathiraja’s Kadalora Kavithaigal. When he narrated the script to PC Sriram, the cinematographer was awed and immediately opined that Ilayaraja would be the right choice to score the music. To this, Shankar had replied that he also felt the same and also revealed that the script was made with Rajinikanth and Nana Patekar in mind as well.

Rajinikanth signed up for P. Vasu's Chandramukhi (2005), a remake of the Malayalam classic Manichitrathazhu. The film eventually broke the record of being the longest running Tamil film as of 2007.[56] It was also dubbed in Turkish and German as Der Geisterjäger and released in those respective nations.

The 3D version of Rajinikanth starrer Sivaji has been trimmed by 30 minutes and the movie is now just 137 minutes. According to reports the edited scenes include the entire Angavai Sangavai scenes, Rajini and Solomon Papaiya Pazhagalam Vaaanga scenes, the fight scene in the music shop and also many of the Rajini wooing Shriya portions. In the second half, the drive- in fight scenes have been trimmed to a great extent. Sivaji in 3D will be released on Dec 12 to coincide with Rajini’s birthday.
