I don't think Paiya & Siruthai were blockbusters. Her hit ratio is much less but glamour is increasing day by day which I like.
Tapsee had acted in only one film - Aadukalam. She will look good with Thala.

Not recommending Taapsee over Tamanna only based on her hit ratio. She is pretty much a new girl to TF. Isn't she?
Tamanna had acted in many films. Thala-Taapsee pair will be a fresh one. There was a time when all new heroines used to pair with Thala. Of late, he seems to have settled with whatever director goes with. This has to change. Oru Taapsee.. oru Emy Jackson... ada oru Amala paul kooda yoosikka maatengurannae (Goundar voice)

Fans may say or hype anything they want, but I do not think the "Hero" has anything to do with "Heroine selection", except give their nod or extended suggestion. Whether it would be heard, is not sure.
A production house looks for projects ; a film maker convicences this production house :
Now you have 2 ways to go :
1. The production house already has the contract dates of actors, and it juggles with it.
2. The film maker proposes the production house the actors he wishes to cast for his film & if possible the production house goes forward to book the necessary ppl or go in terms with the film maker to choose another cast or it backs off from the project extimating the TTM to be quite long (the risk involved)
3. There comes a category, where an established hero OKs a story and chanels the film maker to a production house (usually that production house could be his own under different name), and from there points 1 and 2 are looked upon.

For ex: Tamana is telugu bound because, in the begining of the carrier she signed a contract with a leading production house (favoring the Mega Family). Also Tapsee - Mohan Babu Family. Nos these production houses juggle their dates + sub-contract her to the other production houses. Sadly once a contract is signed, you dont have a say !

In my opinion, I do not think the "Hero" has a big hand in chosing Heroines.
