'அம்மான் மகன்' பாடலின் முடிவில் நடிகர் திலகம் கூலிங் கிளாஸ் அணிந்து கொண்டு பார்க்கும் அந்த ஸ்டைல்...யப்பா...சான்சே இல்லை. அது மட்டுமல்ல... 'ராமன் எத்தனை ராமனடி'யில் கிராமத்துக்கு ரயில்வே ஸ்டேஷனில் ரயிலில் இருந்து இறங்கி நடிகர் திலகம் விஜயகுமாராக வந்து அமர்க்களப் படுத்துவாரே... அந்த காட்சியைக் கலரில் கண்டால் எப்படி இருக்குமோ அப்படி இருக்கும் மேற்சொன பாடலில் நடிகர் திலகம் தோன்றும்போது.

Released in the year 1968 & NT fresh after a huge blockbuster critically & commercially in the form of Thillana Mohanambal, NT returned to his strong forte of Melodrama with a good storyline to back him up in the Company of JJ, Nagesh , MN Nambiyar . Also this movie was directed by P. Madhavan who gave some of memorable films for NT like Thangapadakam, Pattikada Pattanama, Annai Illam, Raman Ethanai Ramanadi. I am sure that such a crazy combination must have made the fans restless till they watched the movie. As usual this movie did not disappoint fans
The movie describes the story of a Zaminda Vijayaragunatha Sethupathy known for his generosity, donates money to people , inspite of his wife’s repeated advice to save some money for their future. He has two sons & a daughter He is very much attached to his bungalow a emotionally .
As fate would play against him, he becomes penniless and is humiliated in his sister’s marriage as he is unable to pay dowry and M N Nambiyar questions his royal pride and makes fun of him for wearing velvette Angawastaram.
Vijayaragunatha Sethupathy’s pride is hurt, his house is mortgaged, his wife dies
But challenges the ( which was earlier given as a security ) that one day he will definitely come back and pay the dues with interest and will take back his bunglow
He moves to Chennai and starts preserving all the daily savings ….. with a sense of determination and single minded dedication to repay his debts and take possession over his Bungalow.
His sons Jr. Sivaji & Nagesh too help him in his endevarours . Nagesh adopts shortcut methods by loving Manorama , thinking her a princess , Jr. Sivaji lands in a job & starts loving JJ. Meanwhile Vijayaragunatha Sethupathy’s sister proposes for a marriage b/w his son & his brother’s daughter which is opposed by Jr. Sivaji. In a turn of events Jr. Sivaji discovers JJ is his cousin
On the other hand as only one month is left Vijayaragunatha Sethupathy is cheated by Nambiyar . His sons desert him.Now he feels crestfallen as his sons leaves him in despair.
Will NT get back his house forms the climax.
Its NT show all the way that too Vijayaragunatha Sethupathy’s. The pride with which he roams the village in chariot, his authority when some one questions about his charity, his anger when he finds a dust in his house, NT plays to the gallery once again
On the other hand he too gets playful when he plays with his wife & children.
His change over , in Chennai caused by his bitter experience due to
MN Nambiyar, his inability to adjust initially were near perfection.
Particularly before YAARAI NAMBI NAAN PORANDHEN….PONGADAA PONGA….. Nadigar thilagam actually starts the song by challenging son using just one hand and will create sound by hitting all parts of his body ! a reflection of an angry old man ….. with a deep sense of resolve and determination …..
Particularly in pre climax scene where he displays a series of emotions , a sense of uneasiness , eagerness to reach his place quickly as possible, With Pride he calls the pawn broker to return his house & crestfallen on seeing his house’s dilapidated condition , Déjà vu feeling when seeing each thing in his house U cannot help except saying “ What a great actor”
In short , a total package
Nagesh & Manorama Comedy track is seperate though it is a surprise he too contributes in his fater’s mission as comedians won’t be given such an opportunity to do so. JJ gets a meaty role again
Jr. Sivaji has few scenes to enact particularly in a scene where he questions his father before the climax other than that it is Vijayaragunatha Sethupathy all the way
As like other P Madhavan movie this movie is based on a moral
