Ravichandran.... though not a versatile actor...he made his presence very sweet and refreshing as a young and handsome actor when Tamil Cinema was donned by the trinity of MGR, Sivaji and Gemini. He had carved a niche for his unique style of dances and stunt performances. His song sequences are still so refreshing...the songs in Kaadhalikka Neramillai, Idhayakkamalam, Naan, Adhey Kangal, Moonderuththu, Meendum Vazhven, Naangu Suvargal and the evergreen song in NT's Motor Sundarampillai with J ' Kaaththirundha Kangale'. During my college days I had an opportunity to interact with him in one of our college functions as the chief guest. An actor who does not know acting in real life! Without any ego he praised his competitor Jai Shankar and showed his respect for NT as a co-star in MSP. In later films he tried some matured act in films like OOmai Vizhigal, Kavari Maan, Neeyaa,.....He was always compared with his Telugu counterpart Krishna for similarity in appearance. He was reckoned as the 'silver jubilee' hero of Tamil Cinema but painful to observe that he could not sustain his popularity graph in the following years. My favourite Ravi movie is always 'Naan'and my favourite Ravi song-dance sequence is 'kannukku theriyaatha... Nenjukku Puriyadha...' in Adhey kangal. He was also reckoned as 'chinna vaadhyar' in comparison with MGR's stunt choreography. He has proved it to some extent in movies like Naan, Moondreluthu and Adhey kangal. When Mu.Ka. Muthu was introduced with vested interest as an 'alternative' (?!) to MGR , he miseraly failed since under the disguise of MGR attire,dancing style or stunt scenes he could remind us Ravichandran and not MGR!Long live Ravi's memory and his contributions to Tamil Cinema.
