It seems IR did not like the movie "Mudhal Mariyadhai". He was part of Megha press meet:

"...Ilayaraja shared few interesting moments from the past and lauded the debut director, Karthik Rishi. He called the director to stage and asked him to share exactly what he said after watching the film after the re-recording. Karthik said, I was confident that I made a good movie, but after watching the movie with Raja sir's music, I couldn’t believe that the movie was done by me. Ilayaraja intervened immediately and said, this is what I hear from every director.

He rolled back some years to quote an incident from 'Mudhal Mariyadhai'. I did not like the movie due to some reasons, but I gave my best regards songs/BGM to that flick. When, Bharathiraja saw the movie after my work, he questioned how am I able to deliver such a wonderful music, even for a film which I did not like, well, all I have to say is; I can't be unfaithful to music.

The word Genius is definitely an understatement for Ilayaraja."

About the songs in the tamil/hindi remake of Marathi movie "Kaksparsh".

"...The film's music is by Ilaiyaraaja, and Manjrekar says he requested the maestro not to give any commercial songs. "He has given soulful music that suits the situations in the film," explains Manjrekar."

வழக்கம் போல ராஜா பேசுவது (வெகுஜன மக்களால்) முழுக்க முழுக்க தவறாகவே அர்த்தம்கொள்ளப்பட்டு இருக்கிறது. அப்புறம் என்ன! மாண்பான உயரிய குணங்களை(!!) கட்டிக் காக்க வற்புறுத்தி வசை மாறிப் பொழிய வேண்டியதுதான். இதெல்லாம் நமக்கு பழகிவிட்டதல்லவா..

எவர் ஒருவர் எப்போது தனது இசை ரசனையின் வழி ஏனைய மற்ற இசையமைப்பாளர்களொடு இசை ஞானியையும் ஒரே தளத்தில் வைக்கிறாரோ அப்போதே அவரது ரசனை கேள்விக்குரியதாகி விடுகிறது. ராஜா என்ற மனிதரின் ஆளுமை, மகத்துவம் ஒரே நாளில் சொல்லிப் புரியவைக்கக் கூடிய செயலே அல்ல. அது ஆண்டாண்டு காலமாக, தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாக தொடர்ந்து உணர்வு பூர்வமாக உள்வாங்கி வளர்த்த ஒரு உயரிய மதிப்பீடு.

அந்த திரியில் நிறைய இசை ரசிகர்களின் பங்களிப்பு அதிகம். எல்லோரும் எழுதுகிறார்கள். நிறைய சுவராஸ்யமான பாடல்களின் நினைவூட்டல், நல்ல விஷயம் தான்.

ஆனால் அங்கு எழுதுவோரில் சிலர் மிகவும் தலை கணத்துடன், மதுர கானங்களை பற்றி மட்டும் சிலாகிக்காமல், ராஜா சாரை காய்ச்சி எடுக்கிறார்கள்.


அவன் இவன் நீ என்று ஏக வசனத்தில் அவரை ஏளனமாய் பேசி முகம் சுளிக்க வைத்து.. இதில் கொடுமை என்னவென்றால், சொல்லி வைத்தது போல் இவர்கள் எல்லோரும் அவருடைய ரசிகர்களாம். பைபோளார் டிசார்டர் கொண்டோரின் இயல்பில் சிலர் எழுத்தை அங்கு காண முடியும். பாவம், இவர்களிடம் மாட்டிகொண்டு இவர்களின் சுற்றத்தார் என்ன பாடு படுகிறார்களோ?

உங்கள் அரைகுறை "3" படத்தை பார்த்து தெரிந்து கொண்டதை எல்லாம் பிரயோக படுத்த வேண்டாம். கீழ்த்தரமான செய்கைகளை பேச்சை கண்டிப்பது அகந்தை என்றால், அது அகந்தையாகவே இருக்கட்டும்.கோழை போல ஒளிந்து பர்சனல் abuse செய்தல் என்ன வியாதியில் சேரும்?காற்றிலடித்த காகிதம் போல எந்த ஊருக்கு சென்றாலும் குறுகிய புத்தி சிலருக்கு விடுவதில்லை.

இந்த மாதிரி ,சொன்ன கருத்தை நோக்காமல்,சொன்னவனை நோக்கி ,அம்பு எய்வதெல்லாம் ,பழைய கதைகள் சார்.
