Dude your statements are contradictory from your fellow hubbers..with 110% occupancy on opening day shows, crowd puller, more no of shows as a solo release..there is nothing to be worried as a non festvial/non holiday release..

110% occupancy on opening day, more no of shows as a solo release is more or less equal to 95% occupancy of a film releasing with competition & with less no. of shows..Then where comes the concern of festival/non festival release..

Until *Mankatha* released No Vijay fan bothered about SOLSs etc neither we do
But SOLO is being answered from every tom and dick(You know who i mean) when Social network started to compile Ajiths opening,We should educate ourselves why festivals *Holidays* (Pongal/Deepavali)are more important part in bringing additional 20% opening than rest of normal holidays.

Even your favourite wants only festivals 4 day diwali/5day pongal holiday packs.Instead stop bothering about SOLO release

that's not a big deal and my post was not to say about SL watching Vijay movies on FDFS. guess it could be the Lyca effect.... j/k jokes apart....got to know that Attagassam actress Pooja is a Sinhalese....all these days I was thinking she was a SL Tamil...I am just wondering why VJ fans haven't questioned the credibility of Ajith in this matter and how he could act with Sinhalese actress...some point to ponder over....

I was just saying that people I know are Vijay fans. Yea they do go watch most Tamil films but they catch the first day show for Vijay. I am not saying every Sinhalese people watch Vijay movies

Parthy, If its solo release, more shows, more collection. Very simple. In chennai you get more collection in multiplexes during non festive than festive time because most of the first show/first day (within 30 years age) travel home during festive time.

Agreed that he gets good opening despite flops was my point. Still he hasn't proven big opening with competition and the numbers posted here too implies the same

IMO, the most important factor for a long run is the content(with the theme) than the family audience. If family audience is the only key for long run then why some recent 100days movies did not collect the huge gross? On the Mankatha part, like you said the theme did not target kids/family audience.

I dont think so arul. I have seen people going to Rajini/Vijay/Surya movies saying kandipa romba mosama irukathu. Also it becomes mandatory for parents to go for these movies if not for them but for kids. Btw can you post the movie which had 100 day run but not much gross please

I would say first 3 days and the wide release is directly proportional to star power.

You get wider release if its solo release than festive release. and hence more collection at least for first 3 days.
If a festive movie collects more than solo release, there comes the 'King of opening' discussion despite more shows
