Poems I Enjoyed
Friends
Here are some of the poems I enjoyed with all my heart. Please feel free to comment.
I believe........
I believe...
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change....
I believe...
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and, you must forgive them for that....
I believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.....
I believe...
That you can do something in an instant that will give you a heartache for life....
I believe...
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be....
I believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you may see them...
I believe...
That you can keep going long after you can't.....
I believe...
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel...

I believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you...
I believe....
That regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place...
I believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences....
I believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score....
I believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and still have the best time!
I believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up...
I believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I believe...
That just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, it doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have...
I believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated....
I believe...
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself...
I believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief...
I believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced
who we are, but we are responsible for who we become...
I believe...
That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other, And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do...
I believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever...
I believe...
That two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different....
I believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you...
I believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, when a
friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help...
I believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being....
I believe...
That the people you care about most in life are the essence of your life. Tell them today how much you love them and what they mean to you....

A Hug
The Hug!
It's wonderous what a hug can do.
A hug can cheer you when you're blue....
A hug can say, "I love you so,"
Or, "Gee, I hate to see you go."
A hug is, "Welcome back again."
And, "Great to see you! Where've you been?"
A hug can soothe a small childs pain,
and bring a rainbow after rain.
The hug! There's just no doubt about it-
we scarcely could survive without it!
A hug delights and warms and charms.
It must be why God gave us arms.
A hug can break the language barrier,
and make your travels so much merrier.
No need to fret about your store of 'em,
the more you give, the more there's more of 'em.
So stretch those arms without delay
and give someone a hug today!

What I learned in life:
I've learned -
that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned-
that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.
I've learned-
that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned-
that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned-
that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something.
I've learned-
that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do.
I've learned-
that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned-
that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I've learned-
that you can keep going long after you can't.
I've learned-
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I've learned-
that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I've learned-
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades
and there had better be something else to take its place.
I've learned-

I've learned-
that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I've learned-
that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it.
I've learned-
that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, how people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't always biological.
I've learned-
that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I've learned-
that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you are to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned-
that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
I've learned-
that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.
I've learned-
that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.
I've learned-
that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
I've learned-
that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I've learned-
that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.
I've learned-
that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe.

YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry.
Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is yesterday with its mistakes and cares,
Its faults and blunders, Its aches and pains.
Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.
All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday.
We cannot undo a single act we performed.
We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.
The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow.
With its possible adversities, Its burdens,
Its large promise and poor performance.
Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.
Tomorrow's Sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds,
but it will rise.
Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.
This just leaves only one day . . . Today.
Any person can fight the battles of just one day.
It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's -
yesterday and tomorrow that we break down.
It is not the experience of today that drives people mad.
It is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday
and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore live but one day at a time.

~Dance Like No One's Watching~
We convince ourselves that life
will be better after we get married,
have a baby, then another.
Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough
and we'll be more content when they are.
After that we're frustrated that we
have teenagers to deal with,
we will certainly be happy
when they are out of that stage.
We tell ourselves that our life will be complete
when our spouse gets his or her act together,
when we get a nicer car,
are able to go on a nice vacation,
when we retire.
The truth is there's no better time
to be happy than right now.
If not now, when?
Your life will always be filled with challenges.
It's best to admit this to yourself
and decide to be happy anyway.
One of my favorite quotes comes
from Alfred D Souza.
He said, "For a long time it had seemed
to me that life was about to begin -real life.
But there was always some obstacle in the way,
something to be gotten through first,
some unfinished business,
time still to be served,
a debt to be paid. Then life would begin.
At last it dawned on me that these
obstacles were my life."
This perspective has helped me to see
that there is no way to happiness.
Happiness is the way,
so, treasure every moment that you have.
And treasure it more because you shared it
with someone special,
special enough to spend your time...
and remember that time waits for no one.
So stop waiting until you finish school,
until you go back to school,
until you lose ten pounds,
until you gain ten pounds,
until you have kids,
until your kids leave the house,
until you start work,
until you retire,
until you get married,
until you get divorced,
until Friday night,
until Sunday morning,
until you get a new car or home,
until your car or home is paid off,
until spring, until summer,
until fall, until winter,
until you are off welfare,
until the first or fifteenth,
until your song comes on,
until you've had a drink,
until you've sobered up,
until you die, until you are born again
to decide that there is no better time
than right now to be happy...
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
So, Work like you don't need money.
Love like you've never been hurt and
Dance Like no one's watching.
