Absolute bliss) , Thirumananchery (built by Sembian Mahadevi, mother of Uttama Chola , predecessor to Raja Raja the great) , Darasuram , Patteswaram, Swamimalai, navagraha temples are some of the very famous temples nearby. Also the Kumbeswarar , Someswarar, Nageswarar ,,Kasi Viswanathar temples , are very much present in Kumbakonam itself.
Kumbakonam is a must visit.

Raghu, in many of South TN temples, its compulsory for men to remove their shirts when entering the temple. This is because it is believed that positive energy can be absorbed better by the bare body.
Temples that insist on no upper garments for men include Tiruchendoor, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Suchindram, etc. In Kerala, you need to wear vEshtti without shirt, otherwise you will not be admitted.
