Not sure if this was discussed earlier here.....
It has become a routine for the current crop of heroes (and affordable for the producers / directors) to do one film at a time that makes it easier for them to dedicate themselves to that role, study their character, make the appropriate changes to their physique, voice modulation etc and deliver a good performance on screen. While even this is pretty hard and takes a lot out of the particular actor...... it is really hard to imagine that NT while doing multiple films at the same time was able to do the same kind of homework and prepare himself both mentally and physically..and that too to switch between diametrically opposite roles and fit into that character (from a icy cool Madhan character in Galatta Kalyanam to a egoist talented nadhaswara expert shanmuga sundaram)....... to think of it today, it is humanely impossible but NT was able to pull it off for a very long time......... The Hardwork he had put in while commendable could also be shared for the general public to take cue from NT on what it takes to excel in each one's field.
Dear Subramanian,
You have come to the exact point. This is what we the fans of NT here, in this thread, have been emphasizing. Mr. Y.Gee.Mahendra, in his talk show in Vasanth TV, shared the same views. And his words can be authenticated since he is from the same profession. YGM had always maintained that the "switching" off and on various characters was possible only to NT. Imagine, NT was doing three shifts a day and all the three were contrasting. In fact, it will be extremely difficult for the crew including the Director, to come out of those characters, but not NT. As a Fan, I too had the opportunity to witness a few shootings. Until the very second he takes the camera on, he would be a common man, but once he puts on his robes and the camera roles on, you can not find the Sivaji Ganesan, the man. And the very next second the take is over, he would return to normalcy, which we can not. There lies his success and prophecy.
