Agree ,. But wouldn't call him a NT clone, but he does possess NT's mannerisms, no doubt! If one analyser RK's Clones, or Rajni wannabe the list is endless, the gang leader is none other than Joseph Vijay Chandrasekar!

If he is the standard against which Kamal is poor dancer, lacks grace etc, you guys should take it easy. You don't want to call Kamal good according to those standards.

I totally agree on this. The whole world enjoys it. Even in hollywood action triumphs over drama in box-office. Imposing one's wish on others is totally subjective thing.

But you really need to see the 80s films to see how much better he is. He generally has longer sequences without cuts. He takes lesser help from quick-cut-editing (not that that's a bad thing, but you kinda feel the overall punch is not there - early 90s Vijayakanth fights vs. post 2000 which is pretty much all gimmicks).
You can see Kamal channeling a lot of martial arts aesthetics. Some of them can't even be attributed to stuntmasters. For instance in the fight right after singAri sarakku in kAkki chattai : Kamal punches a guy, while he gasps for breath, a tired Kamal wipes his face, and then punches him again
And it would appear all in one quick flow. indha maadhiri paRpala chinna chinna vishayangaL.
There is no wonder you write well because you are such a big fan of Cinema(not any specific genre but all genres)

Plum simply said he did not like KH dance/stunt. He did not generalise that ?

MGR am told was part of the music/song composition, choice of lyrics, screenplay etc etc - of course, his care/concern in keeping himself in shape is legendary!
the last factor probably helped in bringing in the 'pathhu gundars adithhy veezhthum believability' factor!
Its really staggering to see people actualy *invent* something to put Rajini below MGR. MGR and screenplay? Did he write a Roshomon? Songs, well TFM has always been blessed (pre-00s) with phenomenal music talent. Lyrics, seriously? Compare with what KD wrote for Sivaji films. And stunts? As Grouch put it, its not circus, its cinema for God's sakes. You need to *act*. He had two stock expressions, one for songs and one for stunts.

+1. MGR's history as a cinema artist is being rewritten desperately. And also this thing about MGR songs being great - never understood that. As you say, what KD wrote for NT stands way above any other in the history of tamil lyrics. Soaked in Life...as against phoney aRivurais from vAdhyAr.
BTW, recently saw thyaagam. In the climax, Thengai gets into a fight with villains an dsays this before involving in adidhadi
(He plays kovil battacharyaar in the movie)
"Enna iyeru kambai edukkaRAnnu pArkaRELA. idhai ellAM enakku yAru solli koduthA theriyumA? (pregnant pause, I am thinking a praise dialogue for NT's character will come here). "VAdhYAr. enga vAdhyAr" with a clear indication of who he is referring to.
Now, we have been discussing about Sivaji vs MGR in magnanimity an dinnocence stakes. Some MGR abhimaanis ELanMA asked Sivajikku vAila veral vechA kadikka theriyAdhA. Sure he wouldnt be that innocent. But surely, this is unprecedented. Praise of arch rival by an actor whom he had given a chance despite knowing that he is part of rival camp. And allowing that to remain in the final cut of the movie.
Contrast this with the man who chided vaali for writing Andavan Kattalai is bigger than Arasa kattalai.
It is clear who was putting up a show of magnanimity and who was truly magnanimous
