Another song that popped up in my head while listening to katrai konjam is kangal rendum from unakkaagavE vaazhgirEn (1986), similarities being 7x8 rhythm pattern, 'loopy' tune with many glides, and nice acoustic drums. (this one's got deadly basslines too; guessing that the final cut of katrai konjam will also).
