Kamal was talking about the making of the movie on the sets. He talked about what difficulties he faced while shooting and all. How can you expect him to bring IR's name whose involvement was in the background, not on the sets. Moreover, it was not some audio release function or 100 days function where they praise everybody involved in the movie. It was an interview and he is only going to talk about the topic at hand or about the questions asked to him.

Mukta mentioned IR to discredit the contributions of kamal and Mani. Atha poyi perusaa eduthikittu.

IR will not have any issue with that interview because he knows how much Kamal respects/loves him.
Even one of the most die hard IR fans also has no issue

me-thinks the sequence is like this:

1. Kamal says certain things abt NAYAKAN shooting/making to B Rangan.

2. B.Rangan either deliberately twists Kamal's words or simply misinterprets it - am not surprised, esp after him asking GVM "everyone knows abt IR's talent, but why did you go to him ?" which was not in good taste - poor journalistic standards - and publishes the interview.

3.Muktha Srinivasan reads it and gives his version - contradictory statements - esp the one regarding how he vetoed Kamal's suggestion to shoot in Dharavi and instead incurred unwanted extra expenses by erecting slum sets in Chennai - now, who is to blame ? avaru solradha paartha, vayasaanavanga senility kaaranamaa enna solromney theriyaama solra matter madhiri irukku!

so appa Kamal + MR koottani thevappattadhu - padam tholvinnu solradhu sappa kattu - Udhayam theatrela mattum 175 plus days (3 shows) odinadhu yenakku theriyin - in fact, when our family got to watch it past 100 days, we cudnt get tickets for a weekend evening show!

and it was a major hit all over TN likewise - and no way it could NOT have made profits!

he says he didnt make money out of the film.. but others obviously made.. so that shows that Muktha was just too generous to under sell the movie..

orey kuzhappam - so why blame Kamal ? blame it on GV and co who forced him to sell the film to them/him ??

if he undersold the film, then it was his fault at not being able to predict its BO success, right ?

Imo , மணி உடல் பாதிக்கப்பட்டது பற்றி சொன்னதை கமல் தவிர்த்திருக்க வேண்டும் .. மற்றபடி முக்தா ஒரு முசுடு என்பது பலரும் சொன்ன சங்கதி தான்.

When I told about these articles to my uncle who knew about "Mukta", he also told that Mukta is a short tempered , "patthu roobA invest paNNanumnaa 8 roobA thaan koduppaaru andha aaLu", "Nayagan padattha sumaaraana laabatthukku vitthuttu summA nashtam aanavar maadhiri eludhuraar"...

having been following Mani's works, i do realise that its mani who is more of a godfather veriyan than kamal......so, muktha saying mani had written initially a story that was different from godfather and kamal made it a godfather is not entirely believable.......also, kamal not agreeing to sivaji ganesan in nayagan is also not believable since he made DevarMagan with same cast for same storyline......

i know this is exaggerated version to completely water down kamal's version but not without truths....ex: the salary part, "budget for those days", saranya character etc were already known through other sources......without documentary evidence, both sides stand can be called "versions of facts" - more like watching Rashomon ........mani, i hope, much like his friend AR had stayed away from controversies during his talk to BR......its a dead horse, dont beat it.....
