I had a chat with one of my friends, who lives in Germany, through ‘skype’ last night and I happened to mention my involvement with ‘the hub’ and subsequently our long conversation diverted itself to the topic of ‘Sivaji Ganesan’. As my friend has been a NT fan himself, we talked about ‘anything and everything’ about NT as well as ‘it could’ve been and it should’ve been’ of his movies! Having mentioned ‘Vasantha Maligai’ digital release, we two practically re-wrote the screenplay again! It was really fun!
What I suggested was that to cast either VKR or Nagesh, instead of both, and cut that crap comedy sequences short between them. There is no need for that VKR character in the movie as well as Nagesh’s blabbering and drunken talks with Ramaprabha. That was pointless and vulgar. Not even remotely funny.
Instead, the screen writer should have concentrated in extending couple of romance scenes between Anand and Latha. After Anand declares his love to Latha and the song ‘Mayakkamenna’, at the end when Anand’s brother sees them with cold eyes and then plots against them. The couple’s next encounter was that of the ill-fated question from Anand to Latha, “Why did you do that?” (which I personally think has a ‘black mark’ on Anand’s character. If somebody like, Anand was madly and truly in love with the woman, he shouldn’t have asked that question).
Anyway, the few scenes I wish to be inserted were before that meeting. It could’ve been in ‘Vasantha Maligai’ or in Anand’s office. (like in the earlier scene, when Latha asks Anand to sit there for at least 10 minutes). The scenes should have depicted in a way that the fondness (by verbally or physically) between them was getting somewhat stronger, (for more elaboration, Mr Gopal -where is he nowadays, by the way? -can shed some light into this!!!)
