ippo thaan Dhaaanu matter clear aagura maathiri irukkunaa, Muktha vanthurukkaar ippo ..
but I agree with one thing..
without Ilayaraja, this movie could have flopped badly.. the music just gave a lot of nativity to the movie.. initial thoothukudi scenes ellaam konjam comedy..
A strong reply from Mukta. Quite unexpected. Thought he would just stop after issuing that press statement.
I  at the point where Mukta said MR got a heart condition after he became a producer.
வெளிப்படையா பேசாம, பூடகமா வாழப்பழத்துல ஊசி ஏத்துனா மாதிரி பேசியிருக்கலாம்.
I mean, it made enjoyable reading for us, but look at the hornet's nest it has stirred!
'இந்த வெட்டு ஒண்ணு துண்டு ரெண்டு' is the most overrated concept in the world and has caused more problems than is acknowledged.
I was amazed at his reaction especially the details, technical background etc. Romba varutha patrupaar pola
As far as ittar is concerned, Kamal Haasan never asked me for it. Had I known, I would have bought it myself, since it is available even in Pondy bazaar.
:rotfl:
Kamal didn't help when sensors rejected the film but the producer was able to solve himself. Then what help exactly the producer expected kamal to do?!?
Nayakan movie was a commercial success and everyone incl Sivaji Ganesan appreciated it. It featured in times too. So, when Kamal haasan did lots of things extra, to make it a world class product, why didn't Mukta try lots of new methods to generate profits?! Keeping a winning product on hand and still not able to make money?!? And as per kamal, Mukta said he was not interested in awards.
When kamal does lots and lots of extra things which he is not supposed to do, its called interference, even though his works enhanced the film.
Whatever problem the producer faces, like the censor issue, kamal shud come front and settle all the issue. Then whats the producer for??!? Avarum sila velaikal seyyaNum thaane?!?
And when the whole world is praising this film, this guy isn't happy and suggests that the alternative story which he has wud have much more rocked the world
So he agrees that kamal gave film rolls. And if PC didn;t use them, then on what film roll was the famous crying scene shot?!? I guess if kamal reacts for this, much more truth will come out!Quote:
Kamal Haasan gave the film rolls that he had purchased for his earlier movie. I paid him for these rolls. However, P.C. Sreeram did not use it, as it was old stock.
MakkaLE, paathukkOnga, kamal padathula avar interfere pannuvaarnu komblaind pannuveengaLe, Mukta had made sure that his suggestions were taken to the movie content. He also suggested to edit the film which he didn't write.
Same goes to aalavanthaan too, Dhanu suggested some things to kamal and he incorporated too. Later, Dhanu trimmed th film length.
Just saying that only kamal's involvement is blamed and most of us not even know abour producer's involvement too, in the film content.
So nallaarunthaalum nallaa illainnaalum kamaloda ectra department involvement ai blame pannuravanga producer's oda mookku nuzhaippaiyum kandiyunga.

PUSHPAK -A CASE STUDY IN NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION!
Review By An Admirer! True Words..
#Anchal!
This movie was released way back in 1988 but I managed to watch it on 4th september 2008 in my college seminar room.Initially I was not interestd in watching a silent movie but when I started watching I got hooked to it.A silent movie yet so entertaining.Infact pushpak is one movie which acctually needs no dialogue or language.
Director Singreetham Srinivasan has done a terrific job and so are the performances of Kamala Hassan,Amala,Tinu Anand,Farida Jalal etc.
The plot goes like this.
Kamala is an unnamed, broke and unemployed youth.Everyday is a struggle for existence for him.Even a beggar is richer than him.One day Kamala by luck stumbles upon a drunkard millionare by roadside who resides in room number 3039 of the Hotel Pushpak.Kamala takes the drunkard prisoner in his house and assumes his identity to taste luxury.By chance Amala stays across his room balcony with her magician father(who had to perform in pushpak)and mother.Kamala had met Amala twice before this.Soon there love starts blossoming and Kamala uses his false identity(rich man) to impress her.One day Kamala and Amala goes out on date.Kamala made Amala buy expensive gifts but she refuses and asks for a bunch of flowers on top of a dilapidated old building. And as a doting lover he abides by her wish. But while doing it he realises that love cannot be measured in terms of money.Meanwhile a contract killer(Tinu Anand) hired by drunkard’s wife’s lover is sent after the drunkard who engaes in repeated failed attempts to kill Kamala with knives made of ice(he mistook Kamala for the drunkard because they were staying in the same room number 3039).
But after seeing the drunkard’s wife lamenting her missing husband and witnessing the people scavenging rich beggar’s money after his death followed by seeing the pictures of Pushpak owner’s success story and several other small but significant incidents Kamala’s view of life is deeply affected and changed. He eventually realises that he should not use this money which came through luck and not by hardwork and gives up his new found luxury. He relenquishes everything including his love.
In its ending,Kamala frees the drunkard and confesses everything to Amala. She tells him that she still likes him and throws a rose and her adress/phone number from her car. Before Kamala could catch it,wind catches it and takes it some distance away
The last shot shows Kamala standing at the employment line once again beggining his struggle for existence but this time with grit, confidence and determination.
Few scenes in the movie which were very touching and moving:
1)When beggar dies and how people react
2)When Amala asks for a bunch of flowers as a gift
Few scenes in the movie which were really funny:
1)All the toilet scenes
2)When beggar shows his richness(oxymoronic)
3)When Kamala is unable to sleep without the noise made by dog barks
4)When the shopkeeper treats Kamala genourously assuming him to be bigger than the last man who had just purchased a INR50,000 statue
5)When magician is shown performing his tricks with his wife
6)Whenever Kamala goes out to throw the packed gift box
and many more! :))
Quote:
Kamal Haasan wanted the film to be shot at Dharavi in Bombay, which was the largest and most congested slum in Asia. I did not want to shoot the entire movie in Bombay – but not because I was “tightfisted,” as Kamal claims. I was always interested in shooting in different locations. Though it was not very easy to shoot outside studios, those days, I had shot in Kashmir, Nepal, Shimla and the Andamans. But when I visited Dharavi, I found that it was not possible to shoot there, since it was thickly populated. Also, I was concerned about the security of the crew. Using photographs of the slum, art director Thota Tharani created the set at Venus studios, Chennai, which turned out three times more expensive than it would have been had we shot at Dharavi. We had to hire thousands of junior artists to create that atmosphere. The remaining portion was shot at Bombay.
Kamal and Mani wud have known that Dharavi Slum wud be too congested and still wanted to shoot there. But its Mukta who denied it and becos if his decision only the expense grew 3 fold.
Many many years later, the population and congestion wud have gone much more higher in Dharavi. Even the security conditions too wud have become more worse. But kamal was able to shoot Mumbai express in same Dharavi, many years later.
Now he says becos of kamal only, the budget increased.
Anban.. press release vidunga.. that he made it to console the producer and yet it did not spread to everyone like Hindu's interview. But when he was sharing the nostalgia from 25 years old memories on a epic movie, IR should have been mentioned I feel. What's wrong in my expectation?
Kamal was talking about the making of the movie on the sets. He talked about what difficulties he faced while shooting and all. How can you expect him to bring IR's name whose involvement was in the background, not on the sets. Moreover, it was not some audio release function or 100 days function where they praise everybody involved in the movie. It was an interview and he is only going to talk about the topic at hand or about the questions asked to him.
Mukta mentioned IR to discredit the contributions of kamal and Mani. Atha poyi perusaa eduthikittu.
Please read the interview one more time. BRangan did not ask him to talk only the incidents from set. Kamal was starting to share right from the creation point. "Atha poyi perusaa eduthikittu."
me-thinks the sequence is like this:
1. Kamal says certain things abt NAYAKAN shooting/making to B Rangan.
2. B.Rangan either deliberately twists Kamal's words or simply misinterprets it - am not surprised, esp after him asking GVM "everyone knows abt IR's talent, but why did you go to him ?" which was not in good taste - poor journalistic standards - and publishes the interview.
3.Muktha Srinivasan reads it and gives his version - contradictory statements - esp the one regarding how he vetoed Kamal's suggestion to shoot in Dharavi and instead incurred unwanted extra expenses by erecting slum sets in Chennai - now, who is to blame ? avaru solradha paartha, vayasaanavanga senility kaaranamaa enna solromney theriyaama solra matter madhiri irukku!
indha vishayathula SKV sollradhu 100% nyayam thaen!
sari, ivvalavu solra MS, yaen, padathhoda kadhai pudikkalenna, 'I wont finance / produce this film' appadeennu solli escape aayirukkalaam illa ??
so appa Kamal + MR koottani thevappattadhu - padam tholvinnu solradhu sappa kattu - Udhayam theatrela mattum 175 plus days (3 shows) odinadhu yenakku theriyin - in fact, when our family got to watch it past 100 days, we cudnt get tickets for a weekend evening show!
andha areavula thaanungo nanga irundhom
and it was a major hit all over TN likewise - and no way it could NOT have made profits!
he says he didnt make money out of the film.. but others obviously made.. so that shows that Muktha was just too generous to under sell the movie..
orey kuzhappam - so why blame Kamal ? blame it on GV and co who forced him to sell the film to them/him ??
if he undersold the film, then it was his fault at not being able to predict its BO success, right ?
oru velai, sour grapes style angalaaippaa idhu ?
When I told about these articles to my uncle who knew about "Mukta", he also told that Mukta is a short tempered , "patthu roobA invest paNNanumnaa 8 roobA thaan koduppaaru andha aaLu", "Nayagan padattha sumaaraana laabatthukku vitthuttu summA nashtam aanavar maadhiri eludhuraar"...
having been following Mani's works, i do realise that its mani who is more of a godfather veriyan than kamal......so, muktha saying mani had written initially a story that was different from godfather and kamal made it a godfather is not entirely believable.......also, kamal not agreeing to sivaji ganesan in nayagan is also not believable since he made DevarMagan with same cast for same storyline......
i know this is exaggerated version to completely water down kamal's version but not without truths....ex: the salary part, "budget for those days", saranya character etc were already known through other sources......without documentary evidence, both sides stand can be called "versions of facts" - more like watching Rashomon :D ........mani, i hope, much like his friend AR had stayed away from controversies during his talk to BR......its a dead horse, dont beat it.....
enga, the article was about experiences of making Nayagan the movie, IR gave soul and life to the final product, the movie from an audience point of view........ but otherwise mostly athu Mani and Kamal sethukkinathu thane.....may be IR ithula anthalavu movie making time la full ah involve aagama irunthirukkalam...avaroda involvement post production la irunthu kooda arambichirukkalam..... mathavanga venumna audience kai thattuvanga appreciate pannuvanga medai la Rajini per solrathu, MGR per solrathu nu pannalam.... but some one like Kamal only expresses whatever he feels out of his heart without leaving / ignorning any one's talents... Nayagan movie watching experience pathi oru article / program vanthiruntha athula Kamal IR la irunthu than aarambichirupparu...........
All of us know the respect Kamal has on Raja. In fact other actors except Vijayakanth, are still pending wrt the respect and thanks they need to pay back to Raja. Kamal intha oru incident la Raja per sollalainnu ivLO issue aakka entha base ume illai.
He is the one who fought with Raja and forced him to get the chance of singing the Thenpaandi chemayile. Originally planned only that Raja sings it completely. Still Raja didn't want to get away totally, thats why he sings for the 1st 1 minit of the song.
Mani about the money made by Nayagan:
http://www.thehindu.com/arts/cinema/...cle4030926.ece
Balance that has spelt success
How big a hit is ‘Nayakan’?
Big enough to make me happy. The producers will make money.
It has been referred in his blog as well ... Something fishy... http://charuonline.com/blog/?p=3528
Me not saying about Raja's contribution. Avar Rajkiran ai kooda thookki vittavar. I am talking about the actors paying back, thanking Raja for the great tunes he offered them.
Vijayakanth silently pays his respect, thanks, to Raja via his Captain TV.
Thala deserved this. When he himself has written much better movies, whats the necessity to write this piece on 25th anniversary. Then he should celebrate such anniversaries every year - for thevar magan, mahanadhi, mmkr, guna, salangai oli kinds.
Ithellaam avarukku therinjaa nadakkuthu! When he starts to write, talk, some times, matters go uncontrollable, like this. Vidunga, perusaa ethuvum nadakkala
