I have not read Thaayam (never heard of it - post the series if possible please) - but I would like to highlight a (well known) work "The Diary of Anne Frank" which could have been used as a reference material for Alavanthaan - The Dairy naration part + childhood (in the book its about sisters) + addressing the dairy + hatered - are quite similar.Quote:

Kamal Haasan is ready with some new scripts, which he claims are more viable all over India than his last film, Vishwaroopam. The actor-filmmaker had taken a huge risk with the film, even mortgaging his house to finance it. Now, he intends to make films in Tamil as well as Hindi. “We are ready with many scripts and are looking for the right kind of producers who can take the films up north. I can’t take risks all the time,” says Kamal.
Having realised the importance of marketing a film, in addition to appealing content, he says, “Now marketing is as crucial and difficult as film-making, if not more. I want someone who can do that properly, otherwise I can’t make those films.” Thankfully, the mortgage for the house has been paid off after the success of Vishwaroopam, but Kamal isn’t relaxing just yet. “I can’t say I’m a rich man now. Some people took advantage of the situation and made lots of money, and I’m glad about that,” he says.
Reportedly, his Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981) co-star, Rati Agnihotri, is vying for the rights to remake the film with her son Tanuj Virwani. Although unaware of this, Kamal says that he has no issues with the remake, but he wouldn’t want to star in it. “We did try making a sequel, but it never came to north India. Now I’m old and can’t play the role again,” he says. “K Balachander (director), who is my mentor, didn’t want to tamper with the original, but I thought of a sequel. We made it in Tamil, but it never got made in Hindi. Now, it’s too late.”

Shruti Haasan seems to be gradually rising up the ladder in the industry. The actress recently had a hit in Tollywood and is now gearing up for two releases in Hindi.
Her father-actor Kamal Haasan maintains that he is proud of her achievements. The veteran actor was quoted saying that since the two are busy with their own work, there is absolutely no time. However, he added that he would love to act with her in a movie if they found time.
Kamal Haasan is now gearing up for the sequel of Viswaroopam, Viswaroopam 2. The first look of the film was recently released in Macau.

When Rajaparvai was released, there was a gigantic banner placed in Mount Road. It was novel with almost 3/4th of the banner blank with Kamal in a corner with a violin. Does any body have the image of it? Can you pls share it?

It shows clearly that he has not profited much -- towards the end with so many issues/problems, he could have sold the film for less than the initial estimated amount. The movie was essentially ready around August and the delays caused initially by the prolonged negotiations and later by many unforseen issues must have impacted his take, although there were other beneficiaries.Quote:

the movie was sold to distributor on an advance and revenue sharing basis.. so he definitely must have made decent money (ie, money equivalent to what he wud have made had it been sold on a MG basis).. theatre owners and distributors would have obviously under reported the collections to retain a big share ..Quote:

And Murattu Kalai, if anyone says he did not become quite "stiff" and "pride" while watching "Podhuvaga Yen Manasu Thangam", he really needs to consult a doctor. That's the impact these 2 songs Had/Have, even though we get to see fabulous visuals and new sound in Vishwa or Endhiran : old wine is incomparable.
So, Kamal had mentioned these 2 movies, and with the magic touch of Vaali (AVM, IR, SP Muthuraman & others), gained them new heights and stamped their "stay" in TFI. (and for Rajini you have to add Kamal before "Others")
