Mr. Radhakrishnan sir,

You also not able to understand..?.

Mr. Sowrirajan Sree already told clearly that, he does not know how to write in Tamil, and he is trying for that.

In the meantime, he gives a very good choice that, who are all not able to read his post in thanglish, just leave it and go forward. Ignore it and just proceed futher.

Did he compell anybody to read them with struggle..?.

If anybody have actual interest and know how to write in Tamil, can convert his post into Tamil and re-post them here, if he permits.

I had mentioned that I am just trying to do it using google translator and I assure you that i shall learn it perfectly and start posting in Tamizh. It is only because we can convey in much better way, whatever we wanted to in Tamizh more than English, I am writing Tamizh in English. Am aware that voracious readers here are finding it difficult to read by straining themselves. I request those to kindly ignore reading my article because I do not want anybody to make themselves strained to read my article.

Firstly, reading

There is a difference between reading " Englishized Tamizh " & "கல்வெட்டு தமிழ்".
"நடிகர் திலகம் ஒரு கலையுலக சக்ரவர்த்தி" எனபதை ζκώதிலϘΩϕϠஒருϑΫϐϑϗζκώϘΩϕϠϡϑΫϐϑϗζκώϘΩϕϠϡϑΫϐϑϗζκ ώϘΩϕ ϠϡϑΫϐϑϗ என்று எழுதினால்...Nobody can read it BUT ""நடிகர் திலகம் ஒரு கலையுலக சக்ரவர்த்தி" எனபதை "Nadigar Thilagam oru Kalai Ulaga Chakravarthy" என்று எழுதினால் many people can understand.

It does take some efforts and strain, i am 100% agreeing. However, am not compelling to undergo such strain and read it too...Having said that, i had already mentioned that I am trying my hands on Google Translator to do it perfectly.

Till such time, I will continue to write the same way if I want to / have to express something.

Am not asking you / requesting you to bear it BUT am requesting you NOT TO READ IT if you feel it is strain.

Lakshmi Vanthachu


Another classic example of NT’s good movie that went un noticed or least to say which many did not take seriously note of . I guess the reason could have been due to change in time and due to arrival of new generation of actors.


Nonetheless the movie was too good to miss. I could not even see this movie telecasted in TV. But I managed to get a decent print of the movie in DVD . The name of the Company DVD is AV Music Park , 3 in 1 movies Dharmam Engey, Vettriku Oruvan, & Lakshmi Vanthachu.


This was the last appearance of NT & Padmini and second time for both NT & Revathi together . The star cast comprised of many performers like Padmini, Revathi, Jayachitra, Prassana(under rated actor), SV Sekar, Chinni Jayanth, Nizhalgal Ravi, Haja Sherif, Senthil,Meena(who played heroine in coming years) & VKR. It was a hindi remake movie Koobsoorat , directed by K. Rajasekar who directed movies like Thambiku Entha ooru, Maaveran, Kaaki Chattai, Vikram, Mappilai, Dharma Durai, Ganguva(Hindi) .
The same director has also worked with NT earlier in Padikathavan.


Story (Spoilers ahead):

NT is a head of a big joint family comprising of his 4 sons Prassana, SV Sekar, Nizhalgal Ravi & Haja Sheriff. NT’s wife is Padmini. It is a very rich family. But it is governed by Padmini. All others in the family do not like the same . Prassana is a lawyer, Ravi is a doctor. The family is in hunting for a marriage proposal for SV Sekar. The bride is VKR’s elder daughter, Revathi is her sister. The marriage takes place. Meanwhile love blossoms between Ravi & Revathi.


Revathi comes to NT’s house to stay with her sister.As she is jovial she could not adjust to the rules of Padmini added to this Ravi plays a prank on revathi which results in her humiliation.
Padmini imposes various regulations even on food habits of the family which irkes them totally however NT is a foodie , Senthil provides him good delicious food. NT is also fond of gardening which is a connecting point for both Revathi & NT.
As it is a routine to check the blood samples of NT’s family persons, Revathi blood is also checked.


Meanwhile Revathi wins the heart of all other people in the house except Padmini. She even identifies the talent of Bharathanatyam in Jayachitra & Mirudamgam in NT.
All family members except Padmini plan to celebrate the wedding day of NT by organizing a drama based on NT & Padmini martial life which is accidentally seen by Padmini and irks her.
She has her own reasons for being strict and decides to partition the property which is not liked by all others, Revathi decides to move out. All others leave for a marriage when Revathi is on her way to her home NT suffers from a heart attack due to his heated argument with his wife regarding her arrogant behavior. Together Revathi & Padmini looks after NT. NT reveals that Revathi is suffering from cancer but she gets married to Ravi who takes her to America , she returns back hale and healthy and announces her pregnancy much to the delight of NT.



Though the movie has a lot of scope for melodrama as it has the heroine suffering from cancer the movie is devoid of tears it is all the way light hearted except for last few minutes. It is Revathi’s show all the way right from the scene in which she is introduced she is a bubbly , jolly teenage girl but our star performer NT has an apple share in scenes which deserves it be it in comical scenes in which he gets caught by his wife on eating Non Vegetarian, referring Revathi as Girl friend. He even allows a satire on his well celebrated Padikatha Methai( A rare gesture )Surprisingly he takes of comedy portion very well even during the fag end of his illustrious career that you wonder why two comedian s chinni & Senthil were included.
NT’s emotional outburst while arguing with Padmini , giving her a reason that why he is hen pecked husband, revealing the real reason on why he keeps Revathi with him warrant special mention.
Padmini as usual delivers her role as an arrogant housewife which she is well used to as effective as ever
Comical scenes between Senthil, Chinni are speed beaker.
A feel good movie which breaks the myth that NT overacts, NT does not gives screen space to other actors, a classic example for underplay and pouncing at the right time.
We can easily say that NT just performs as per the role , if director needs exaggerated emotions he can do that , if he wants it as so called natural acting which is said now a days he can deliver that too.

ANDAMAN KADHALI

Another hit movie from NT- Muktha Srinivasan Combo. As already discussed by hubbers about NT’s back to form from the movie Deepam this movie established his supremacy once again in box office even though new generation actors entered the industry.

As I have watched many NT movies, the movies in particular combo stresses on certain aspects. In case of NT- Muktha Films combo the movie is set in a particular background and infact the location itself plays a dominant role in the movie . Example: Kashmir in case of Imayam, A big house in case of Thavapudalvan etc.
The movie was written by Prof.Prakasam who scripted for Imayam, directed NT in Sadhanai.
The movie begins in beautiful Andaman Nicobar island , the first shot being shown is a big clock situated at centre of the island where NT comes running to doctor’s house to save his wife who is ill. The doctor( Thengai Srinivasan, his wife Manorama) refuses and irritates him which irks NT, Nt hits him which results in his death , NT flees from that place and moves to Chennai via ship.

Years roll by we are now introduced to older NT who is too rich and lives with a philosophy that money can buy anything. He solves the problem of a worker through his money. He is living with his adopted daughter Kavitha ( kavitha’s father is the person who saved NT and made him his heir, those scenes were shown in painting rather than monotonous flashback , brilliant execution that paved way for crispness of the movie).
As Kavitha is interested in statues and those statues sculptured by Chandramohan are auctioned in Andaman , NT goes to Andaman with Kavitha, there he meets Thengai who was presumed to be dead. Thengai realizes his mistake and decides to find NT’s wife (Sujatha).

NT is on his mission to find his wife and travels all around Andaman , he is reminded of his wife when he visits each place

The screenplay is beautifully interlaced with front and back cuts , the movie switching from present narration and flash back( A technique which is widely used now and proclaimed that it is a new age technique of story telling which started from Alaipayuthey). The scenes are beautifully cinematographed by cameraman Mr. Sampath. Meanwhile Kavitha is in love with sculptor Chandramohan, who in turn is a womanizer.

But Kavitha’s pure love changes his attitude. Chandramohan agrees for marriage but the marriage has a bottle neck i.e. both Chandramohan and Senthamarai(Maternal uncle) lays down a condition that Chandramohan’s father must be killed before the marriage as he has ruined the life of Chandramohan’s mother, NT agrees to find him

The audience are in for a surprise when NT finds Sujatha , again on coming to know that Chandramohan is his son. NT is torn in between love for his wife and loyalty towards his owner’s daughter , to keep his word and asks Sujatha to accept that she is NT’s wife which she refuses
The rest of the movie is who ultimately wins Sujatha or NT.

This movie re established and made it sound that NT’s supremacy in Box office continuing his from Deepam, although a array of new stars made their foray into tinsel world. A form which continued till later part of 80’s .
NT’s costume too had a sea change ,just like Deepam his costumes were apt ,neat not shabby in an desperate attempt to show him younger. In short NT played a role in the movie which was closer to his age. The costumes were mostly Coat suits , checked shirts, or plain pants , mild colour shirts. He also wore a scarf like material in certain scenes, safari suits, costumes by Ramakrishnan. Also NT wore a set of accessories just like Deepam , A gold watch , Blue Sapphire stone and emerald stones along with bracelet.

Many might have wondered why Iam making many references with Deepam movie it because in both movies NT is rich, Clothing style is same more importantly It was telecasted recently.
NT walks stylishly with a walking stick all around the island , a walk well distinguished from same kind of walk in Uyrantha Manithan. His make up too is too natural. NT’s acting sorry his living in the character was too commendable particularly in scene where Sukumari accuses outrageous behaviour of rich people to which he realizes his mistake and showers money all over the child and blesses her.


NT’s confession scene where he confesses day to day happening when his wife is not around and does the same when he sees Sujatha reminds us Thirisoolam but distinguished by his versatile acting. His role is beautifully etched as a caring lover, husband torn between his loyalty and affection towards his family and daughter Kavitha , a role which needs an actor and here is the only actor.


The final scene where he discloses his position infront of his family , YG Mahendran, Senthamarai without disclosing his identity and lists out the reasons for the reason for which Chandramohan’s father to be punished is definitely a jewel in the movie.


Sujatha as usual is neat, elegant eludes class particularly in older get up is too good.The scenes where she enquires the post man whether she had received any letters to which the post man replies in negative, she shots back saying that one day he will arrive and that day I won’t come for post if not I might have died.
The scene where he meets his husband after many years and asks him to come for food and NT asks what is the food to which she replies “ Kozhi Kulambu” to which NT asks why, she replies jokingly , in houses of poor it must be either of two reasons “ either Rooster must be ill or people in house must be ill” NT asks what is the occasion to which sujatha replies with a smile “ rooster is ill”.
Sad that we have missed her A great performer.
The rest of the cast comprising of Kavitha & Chandramohan do not have much to do, Chandramohan’s dubbing voice is too mature for his age. He is well known for his acting in telugu movies. Comedy track is by Manorama & Thengai Srinivasan partly ok.

Songs were also good.


Finally if you grab a copy of this movie in Moser bear you can freely travel to Andaman Islands along with stellar performances.

I believe "Lakshmi Vanthachu" released in Madurai Abirami complex and run for more than 50 days. I think that year (1986 or 87???) lots of NT movies released.

எத்தனை எளிமையான விவரிப்பு.
ஒரு பெண், சிறிய பொட்டு ஒன்றை தன நெற்றியில் வைத்திருக்கிறாள்.
இதில் என்ன அப்படி ஒரு அதிசயம்?

இந்தியர்களுக்குத்தான் தெரியும் ஒரு பெண் முகத்தில் பொட்டு வைக்கும் போது,
அவள் அழகு பன்மடங்கு அதிகமாகிறது.அவள் கணவனை அல்லது காதலனை,
அவள் பால் இன்னும் நெருங்க செய்து, நேசிக்க செய்கிறது.
மேலும் ஒரு சிறப்பு,அந்த பொட்டினால் ஏற்படும் அழகு, மற்றவர் மனதில் வேறு எந்த சலனத்தையும் ஏற்படுத்துவதில்லை.இப்படி ஒரு nativity ததும்பும் வரிகளை கவியரசரால் மட்டுமே படைக்க முடியும்.

இதற்கு இன்னொரு அர்த்தமும் கொடுக்கலாம்.பொட்டு என்பதற்கு திலகம் என்றும் பொருள் கொள்ளலாம்.எனவே "நடிகர்கள் லட்சம் பேர் இருக்கலாம்.அதில் திலகம் வைத்த ஒரே முகம் நீ!..நடிகர்களில் திலகம் நீ!" என்பதையும் இதில் கவியரசர் தலைவரை மனதில் நிறுத்தி சொல்லாமல் சொல்கிறார்.

நாளுக்கு நாள் தங்கள் எழுத்துக்களில் மெருகு ஏறிக் கொண்டே போகிறது. இதே போல் தான் மற்ற அனைத்து நடிகர் திலகத்தின் ரசிக நண்பர்களுக்கும் ஏற்பட்டு வருகிறது. நடிகர் திலகத்தின் படத்தைப் பார்த்து பார்த்து ரசிகர்களில் நாம் எப்படி முதன்மையான நிலையில் நிற்கிறோமோ அதே போலத் தான் அவரைப் பற்றி எழுதி எழுதி அதிலும் முதன்மையான நிலையை அடைந்து கொண்டு வருகிறோம். முரளி சார், சாரதா, கார்த்திக், tac, சக்திப்பிரபா, நவ், ஜோ, பிரபுராம், பம்மலார், வாசு, பார்த்த சாரதி, சதீஷ், பெயர் விட்டுப் போன பல சீனியர் ஹப்பர்கள் தொடங்கி இன்றைய சௌரிராஜன் வரை ஒவ்வொருவருக்குள்ளும் நடிகர் திலகத்தின் தாக்கம் தானாகவே அவர்களுக்குள் இருக்கும் புலமையை வெளிக்கொண்டு வருகிறது. ஒவ்வொருவரும் நடிகர் திலகத்தைப் பற்றி எழுதும் போது, அவர் மேல் இருக்கும் பக்தி தம்மையறியாமலேயே அல்லது அறிந்தே எழுத்து வன்மையைக் கொண்டு வருகிறது. நாளடைவில் இதனுடைய மெருகேறிக்கொண்டு வந்து இத்திரியின் மேன்மையை மட்டுமின்றி இம் மய்ய இணைய தளத்திற்கும் பெருமையைத் தேடித் தரும் வகையில் அமைந்து வருகிறது மகிழ்ச்சியாக உள்ளது. இதில் ஒரு சிறப்பம்சம் என்ன வென்றால் ஒவ்வொருவருவருடைய ஸ்டைலும் தங்களுடைய தனித்தன்மையைக் கொண்டிருப்பது தான். இது நடிகர் திலகத்திற்கு அவருடைய ரசிகர்கள் செய்யும் மிகச் சிறந்த தொண்டு என்பதையும் தாண்டி மற்றவர்களுக்கு முன்னுதாரணமாகவும் விளங்கி வருகிறது.

Ahdaman kathali saw this movie at ooiy on our honeymoon trip way back feb 78. my wife was wondering how CRAZY I WAS that time on NT.as i could not concentrate that ime on the movie saw it repeatedly on arraival at madras.
the same crazyness continues even today or much more. that is the magic of NT.

very good reviews for 'Latchumi Vandhachu' and 'Andhaman Kadhali'.

When describing about Andhaman Kadhali, I am surprise why compare everything with Deepam, which came exactly one year before, when there is 'Annan Oru Koil' , the very previous movie to Andhaman Kadhali.

You have alotted just quarter line for songs.

clumsiness in tones, 2 songs for yesudoss for NT, one song by TMS for NT, one song by TMS for Chandramohan.

The very term "Acting" means simulating / emulating something which was in existence (or) non-existence.

This being the case, the question of natural / unnatural does not arise. If we see today's film, the goondas of villain when they chop a man with "Aruvaal" they do shout like hell.."yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiii" jump to the sky and chop the person ! We have seen that in many action movies of Tamil.

Why not those who call unnatural when they comment about NT's performance call that as well as "unnatural"? They do not do that but they do substantiate that the goonda is expressing his anger and "kolaveri"....

Even if the "Aruval" is hit with ease(without shouting..aaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii) it is going to chop the hand or head..then why the shout and jump?

for NT one rule ...for others one rule? .....This itself is one proof of how these people envy and are jealous of Nadigar Thilagam.

The worst part is those who do not know (or) not even heard of something called "performance" used to comment our Nadigar Thilagam's performance as "exaggeration"

If the hero is so capable of bringing out as per their term "Natural" acting...all the hero's films should have been well appreciated and awards should have embraced the hero. That did not happen either...!

I really pity about their ability to understand and differentiate...!
