a mere solo sojourn
without a companion

from my "don't know any better" self...

I try my darndest to hide my crooked smiles
I respond no more then with the politest of nods
my voice still made soft and lady-like

modesty habitually muffles mirth
with my once ring adorned hand

i cry for me too, but somethings never change
the sighs, no less redolent with sorrow
just because they echo of relief

Coming upon a web
I find the knots all familiar...
only the knotter seems amiss.
for i am that knotter,
yet my home is all but gone from
where it was neatly tied.
and here i find not
an innocent imitation
but what my own fingers
wove.
re-placed without being replaced.
you might as well have
unraveled my work
and broken the very
fingers whose
meagre skills
you aim to take
and display
as yours.
