Sivaji had a special walk that he used on screen and it wasn't a conscious thing. The minute he heard the word "action", he would automatically transform his entire body language - instinctively.

During the filming of MUDHAL MARIYAADHAI, Bharathiraja was trying to get him to walk like he did off camera but each time Bharathiraja shouted "Action", Sivaji would do his on-screen walk.

Bharathiraja then asked him to walk towards Radha (the actress in the film) and stop until they changed the reflectors and camera positions. When Sivaji reached Radha, Bharathiraja shouted "Cut" and Sivaji immediately relaxed and walked back to his spot, ready for the 2nd take. What Bharathiraja didn't tell him was that he had quietly asked cameraman B.Kannan to keep the camera rolling even after hearing the word "Cut". The result is Sivaji's natural walk captured on film for the first time in this scene in MUDHAL MARIYAADHAI.

When Bharathiraja meekly told Sivaji what he had done, expecting an explosion, Sivaji burst ouit laughing, calling Bharathiraja "Badavaa" and saying that he had tricked him properly.

Everyone on set could not believe how graciously Sivaji accepted this - One of many, many anecdotes that prove that Sivaji Ganesan was more than an amazing actor, he was an extraordinary human being!

It was amazing to note for me that just few weeks before it was on my mind that This Legend has done in cinema 'a walk' which portrays the character all along (In most of other actor's we must have seen only their natural walk whatever character they portrayed) and I was wondering what would be his natural walk (as I have not seen him very close by) and you have given a very rare information about the legend for all of us to know.

I am quite amazed with your enthusiasm and interest and as an elder ,I bless you. There are couple of corrections.First triple role movie is bale pandiya not Deiva Magan. Slow motion was used earlier in a Black&White Sivaji Film but I dont remember.May be Mr.Pammalar will help me.

நேற்று அருணாவிற்கு செல்லமுடியவில்லை . 4 மணி அளவில் அஜந்தாவிற்க்கு சென்ற பொது MR . குமரேசனை சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிட்டியது. படத்தை அமைதியாக பார்க்க முடிந்தது. 7 .30 மணி அளவில் பெரிய மாலை போடுவதாக குறினார். தனி வேளை நிமித்தம் ஏழு மணிக்கு கிளம்பிவிடதால் , பார்க்கமுடியவில்லை. திரை அரங்கு உள்ளே சில காட்சிகளில் சில்லறை பறந்தது. மொபில்லில் எடுத்த சில புகை படங்கள் இதோ

A movie worth revisiting anytime, NT's performance sollavA vEnum....

Brilliant review groucho70. The best I have come across for this unsung movie.

Have watched this movie countless no. of times in TV/DVD .

The question of why such a movie hasn't done well in BO haunts me even today. Ethiroli's success would have ensured few more classics under NT-KB combination, which we really missed for ever.
